A teen missionary couple went home to heaven just the day after their wedding.
Teen missionary couple
Austin Wesson and Rebekah Bouma met in February 2017 during their separate mission trips. It was when Rebekah spent three months in South Africa, Austin’s homeland, to do missions. Right away, they knew they were meant for each other.
The two 19-year-olds started dating in April of the same year. After just two months into dating, Austin proposed to Rebekah, and on August 4, 2017, they tied the knot at the courthouse in Wichita, Kansas. However, what would have meant to be a “happily ever after” for the young couple was cut short.
“They were very much in love,” John Bouma, Rebekah’s dad, said of the new couple. “There was no doubt whatsoever that their love was the real thing.”
Goes Home To Heaven
The day after their wedding, they got into a terrible accident. It was supposed to be their first full day as a husband and wife, they were out doing some errands when Austin lost control of the truck that he was driving. The vehicle struck an embankment and crashed into a tree just outside of Clearwater, Kansas.
Austin died on the spot while Rebekah was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Two days after, she joined her husband in heaven.
“It is with an unbearably shattered heart that we inform you that our darling daughter, Rebekah Christina, went peacefully into the arms of her Loving Savior at 12:32 am, Monday, August 7. She is with the Lord that she loved so deeply and so joyfully and she is with her husband of just one day, Austin Wesson, whom she loved with all her heart. We thank God that they are together while grieving their loss so very deeply,” Rachel Bouma, Rebekah’s mother posted on Facebook.
The teen missionary couple went home together to be with the Lord whom they love.
“They had a very strong faith in God and wanted to serve Jesus, be the hands and feet of Jesus, ministering to other people,” John said.
