After 24 years in music, country music singer Granger Smith announced that he is now leaving the music industry for full-time ministry.
Granger Smith Announces Retirement
On April 12, Granger Smith shared an Instagram post he noted as “so difficult.”
“The words for this caption are so hard to find,” he admitted. “Not because I don’t believe in the truth of them, but because this marks the end of the longest era in my life!”
The singer-songwriter announced that he was going to leave the music industry. And “this summer” will be his last tour. For 24 years, Granger has been successful in his country music career. That’s why perhaps his announcement surprised many.
To Pursue Ministry
Although he still has no idea what it will look like, he highlighted his desire for God to use him for His purpose in ministry.“I am so encouraged and hopeful and excited and joyful about the next chapter,” he explained. “But to a large extent, I have no idea what it will look like. I just want to glorify God the best way that I can. I want to learn and grow and serve my local church and allow my pastors to equip and affirm those next steps. Lord willing, I want to be used to help people find their purpose.”
Granger clarified in the announcement video that he isn’t “going to start a church or a crusade or a revival.” Instead, he and his family would serve in the ministries of their local church.
