A heroin addict for 12 years surrenders his life to Christ and now proclaims Jesus is “the best addiction in the entire world.”
Absent Father
Chad Logan grew up without an earthly father. His parents divorced when he was still eight years old. That’s why even with the presence of his mother, a devout Christian, his feelings of rejection and emptiness remained. He longed for his earthly father, so his absence deeply pained him.

“Christianity was a set of rules and you got to come and show everybody how much you serve and give,” he recalled. “I didn’t want to be part of it.”
Abused And Molested As A Child
In addition to his absent father, Chad also had terrible experiences with the men in his life. After his mother remarried, he was abused by his stepdad, a cocaine addict. The stepdad often beat and hurt him and his sister. Later, at 12 years old, a youth leader sexually molested him in church.

The abuses Chad experienced from men made him ignorant about a father’s love. Hence, it was hard for him to have a relationship with the Heavenly Father. As a result, he turned to other things to find comfort.
Becoming A Heroin Addict
In fifth grade, the young Chad started smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol to fill his brokenness. Then as years went by, he went deeper and deeper into hard drugs, which led him deeper into emptiness.
Finally, fifteen years later, Chad found himself completely hopeless. In 2011, he woke up feeling like he was dying. Then memories flashed back in his mind. He remembered the revival event he attended as a teen, where he heard “about the grace and the mercy of Jesus Christ.” At 12 years old, Jesus saved him. At that moment, at 27 years old, that feeling started coming back to him.
“I wonder if God would still take me back,” he said. “I wonder if I could have this relationship with Him again. Because that is the only time and the whole time I had been growing up that I ever felt the sense of peace and the sense of calm.”
So, Chad asked for help and looked for a Recovery Center. He went to a church known for welcoming drug addicts and helping them to get sober. There, Chad heard the Gospel again. Since then, he was never the same again.
