Blacklisted In Hollywood For His Christian Values, Actor Now Thanks God For Breakthrough

by Christel Berns April 14, 2022
written by Christel Berns

Hollywood actor Neal McDonough was blacklisted when he stood upon his Christian values in film offers. Now, he’s grateful to God for the breakthrough.

Actor Neal McDonough

Neal McDonough has always loved to act in films. Hence, he did his best to pursue success in his acting career. However, that dream was challenged after some film offers breached his Christian values and principles.

In 2010, the actor faced a drought in his acting career because of his faith. Apparently, he refused to do what the “Scoundrels” producers wanted because they wanted him to do sex scenes for the show. Neal immediately declined those scenes as it violated his moral values. Also, he doesn’t even do kissing scenes.

Since then, others branded the 56-year-old as a “crazy religious guy.” And his career began to go down its way. Losing money and opportunities frustrated Neal. But he was still hopeful that someone would give him a chance.

Until one day, Neal tried to wrestle with God about his situation.

“I remember falling to my knees and saying, ‘God, why have you forgotten about me? Why am I being punished so much?” he said. “And as soon as those words came out of my mouth, I realized what self-absorbed questions those were.”

Soon, the actor instantly realized he didn’t own anything because everything is a gift from God. And he had no right to question Him. Then his heart began to thank God for everything instead of complaining.

In an interview with Fox News, Neal said, “We all experience challenges in our lives. I should be grateful — and thankful — for all the blessings I’m given.”

Breakthrough

Following that conversation with the Lord, the actor got a phone call and got a role in “Justified.” That role turned his career around and finally opened many opportunities for the Hollywood actor.

“Everything was kind of forgotten,” he said. “It was a horrible situation for me. After that, I couldn’t get a job because everybody thought I was this religious zealot.”

Amid the success in his career following the hardship, Neal still vows to always put God first in his life.

“I put God and family first, and me second. That’s what I live by. It was hard for a few years,” he said.

Kirk Cameron Talks About Faith In God Amidst Success & Fame

by Christel Berns January 15, 2022
written by Christel Berns

Actor Kirk Cameron opens up his journey in finding Christ amidst fame and glamor in Hollywood and says, “I want to use my platform … to advance the good.”

Hollywood Journey Of Kirk Cameron

Kirk began his acting career at 14-years-old. Hence, he was thrust into the Hollywood scene at an early age, landing a leading role that became one of the most prolific sitcoms of the 1980s. And in the recent PragerU series “Stories of Us” episode, the actor explained his journey.

Kirk Cameron

Apparently, he didn’t become a Christian until he entered the entertainment industry. He was an atheist until he accepted Christ at 17-years-old. Also, Kirk shared one moment when he pondered about the afterlife amid success and fame.

“I knew that if there was a heaven, I wouldn’t be going there,” he said. Because he noted how he lived life back then with a “self-centered, conceited, ‘I’m all that,’ ‘I’m the G.O.A.T.’, celebrity Mike Seaver guy” mentality.

Praying For The First Time

But it was at that point; he decided to pray for the first time. He asked God, “If you’re there, would you please show me. … Would you forgive me for all the wrong things I’ve done and make me the person that You want me to be.”

In addition, the now 51-year-old star also shared a quote he learned from his daughter. His daughter wrote on a piece of paper: “It’s the same boiling water that softens potatoes that hardens eggs. It just depends on what you’re made of.”

“So the same difficult challenges and influences of Hollywood that turns some people sour and makes them narcissistic and bitter and joyless and afraid to not fit in,” Kirk explained. “Is the same pressure that actually softened my heart and caused me to embrace gratitude and be thankful for the life that I have. And want to use a platform and this Hollywood industry to advance the good.”

Then he added, “I really think it’s what you’re made of. And if you don’t know what you’re made of, don’t look to your environment or your industry, or other people to give you an identity. There was somebody who made you — ask Him. And you can be sure that the ending of the story is gonna be fantastic.”

Grateful For His Wife

Furthermore, Kirk is truly grateful for his wife. He said how his nephew often asks him if he “took advantage” and “didn’t waste” the opportunities he had to go out with so many different girls at the height of his sitcom fame. And he told him how he “found something so much better.”

“I found a girl,” the actor said. “She’s beautiful on the inside; she’s beautiful on the outside. I married her and we’ve been married for 30 years. You have no idea how much more valuable that is. I’ve got six grown children who love God and still ask me my opinions about things, who still love to come home and be with me and my wife. And I’m on PragerU’s ‘Stories of Us.’ I mean, the story doesn’t really end much better than this.”

‘The Chosen’ Movie Studio Becomes Home For ‘Outcasts From Hollywood’

by Christel Berns January 13, 2022
written by Christel Berns

The movie studio that launched the most successful crowdfunding campaign in history ‘The Chosen,” becomes home for outcasts from Hollywood. And its quest is to transform faith and family entertainment.

Angel Movie Studio

Neal Harmon and his brother founded the Angel Studios in 2012. Now, it is the home to “The Chosen,” the record-breaking series that tells the story of Jesus through the Bible characters’ point of view. It is a “community-driven movie studio” that became the home for those outcasts from Hollywood. Faithwire also describes the studio as a “family-friendly, movie-making powerhouse that could end up totally disrupting how films and TV shows are funded and created.”

The co-founder of Angel Studios, Neal Harmon, shared with Faithwire in an interview how the company raised $47 million to push through its mission.

“Angel’s a home for those who are outcasts from Hollywood. And the name is after the people who back the projects,” he said. “The people who love the content and want to see its message made. People get to participate in culture. They get to have an impact on culture. And it’s not just a bunch of Hollywood executives that make these decisions. It is the smartest executives of all time — it’s the audience.”

Hope And Light

Further, Harmon shared the company’s main focus. And that is to “amplify stories of light” that can help “make the world just a little brighter place.”

“There’s something about light that just pierces through all darkness and helps people understand,” he added. “It gives people something to shoot for, something to move towards and it gives people hope.”

Also, VidAngel aims to help families “cut out negative language, sex, and violence from movies and shows.”

Angel Studios has been achieving consecutive success in recent years. But the co-founder stresses that “the path ahead “won’t be easy.” However, the movie-making powerhouse team is committed to grit and sacrifice on their quest to transform entertainment.

‘Christmas With The Chosen’ Breaks Record—Most High-Profile Newbie In Hollywood

by Christel Berns December 8, 2021
written by Christel Berns

In a recent report from Forbes, the ‘Christmas With the Chosen: The Messengers’ became one of the most high-profile newbies in Hollywood with a miraculous almost $9 Million over the weekend.

Christmas With the Chosen: The Messengers Breaks Record

The Christmas With the Chosen: The Messengers breaks a record in the Fathom Events this weekend, to many people’s surprise. According to Forbes, “the picture earned $4.1 million over its Fri-Sun weekend.” That would mean a 3.33x weekend multiplier because most Christians flock over weekends. And that would give the film a “$8.8 million Wed-Sun domestic launch.” Of which, according to the report, “frankly bigger than many big-deal Oscar season contenders and/or would-be adult dramas this year.”

The faith-based film is now Fathom Events’ best-selling and most high-profile movie. For the first ten days of December, the film will be shown at 1,700 movie theaters across the country.

About The Christian Film

Christmas With the Chosen film tells the biblical story of Jesus from the point of view of Mary and Joseph.

But despite the film’s success, THE CHOSEN creator, Dallas Jenkins, remarked that they are not after the numbers.

“We don’t do this for the numbers. But these records indicate people will indeed go to the theater for a project they’re passionate about,” he said. “The enthusiastic comments from new and old fans give us confidence to do this again.”

Dallas Jenkins, The Chosen Creator

Making History

THE CHOSEN is also the No.1 highest crowd-funded project of all time. It is a faith-based film that made history as the first multi-season series about the life of Jesus. So far, the series has completed its Seasons one and two through “Pay It Forward.” And now, they’re still currently working for the series’ season three.

What’s more, Dallas stressed the hallmark of this Jesus series—authenticity.

“The No. 1 word that we put on our wall, the banner across everything we do, is ‘authenticity,'” he told USA Today. “So many past Bible projects telling Jesus’ story have been a little stiff, maybe a cleaned-up, sanitized version of the story. We desperately seek to pursue a portrayal that’s as authentic as possible.”

In the film, “Jesus laughs, cries, gets angry, comforts, even tells jokes, all the while fulfilling His most holy calling.”

And in the CHRISTMAS WITH THE CHOSEN, Dallas also displayed this authenticity he talked about. The movie showed Joseph, Jesus’ earthly father, “shoveling animal dung in a stable to clear a space for his wife Mary to have her baby.”

“That image alone, of Joseph scooping manure to prepare a spot for Mary to give birth, is not only one of the special’s defining images,” he said. “But one of the main themes of ‘The Chosen’ series.”

“It shows his humanity and his humility. I just think it says so much.”

Hollywood, Yom Kippur, And Atonement

by Rabbi Eric Tokajer September 15, 2021
written by Rabbi Eric Tokajer

I know that no one reading this blog today will be shocked to know that there has always been tension between popular culture and Biblical culture. What you may not know is that way back in 1927, as movies shifted from silent films to talking movies, the very first movie that was produced with synchronized sound was, in fact, The Jazz Singer, starring Al Jolson. It was a movie about a Jewish man who was torn between serving G-D in his synagogue or becoming a jazz singer. I find it interesting that of all the themes that Hollywood could have chosen as their foundational talking movie, they chose one that depicted the struggle between serving G-D and serving the world.

To add to the dynamics of this movie and the choice of this film to be the very first talking movie, the movie is centered around Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, the day observed in Judaism as the holiest day of the year. It’s the one day a year when, in ancient times and the Temple stood, the High Priest would enter the Holy of Holies after offering a sacrifice for the atonement for the people of Israel.

As I said earlier, of all the themes Hollywood could have chosen, for Hollywood to choose making a movie about choosing between G-D and money was interesting. But, when you add to that the choice to make the movie centered around Yom Kippur, a day focused entirely upon repentance and forgiveness, the choice becomes even more interesting.

When you understand the roots of Hollywood and the spiritual struggle at its roots, it makes sense that nearly every movie and television program since that day has in some way continued to promote the same tension between Biblical culture and worldly culture.

If you have not watched the movie The Jazz Singer, it is important to note two things. First, the lure of fame and fortune. “Money” was so strong that Al Jolson’s character was willing to walk away from his G-D and his family to achieve it. But, the second and most important thing to note was that at the end of the movie on Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement and repentance), Al Jolson’s character turned back to his family and his G-D and chose to sing a Hebrew prayer in his synagogue in his father’s place. The prayer he sings so beautifully is the Kol Nidre (All Vows), a prayer of forgiveness asking G-D to forgive us for all vows we have made and all commitments we have made in the past year and restore us to right standing with Him.

Hollywood’s very first full-length talking movie was a movie about the battle between righteousness and unrighteousness, the battle between Biblical and worldly cultures, the battle between life and death. Yet, Hollywood (maybe without even realizing it) shared the Good News of G-D’s forgiveness and reminded us that no matter how far away from G-D we have traveled, through a simple, heartfelt, honest, and vulnerable prayer asking for forgiveness, we can be restored.

So, as we are in the Days of Awe between Yom Teruah/Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur – a time when we are encouraged to return to our G-D and King – I want to remind you of two things: 1) Yeshua shared the same message as the movie The Jazz Singer, as we read in Matthew 6:24:

24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stick by one and look down on the other. You cannot serve God and money.”

And 2) through true repentance, as we read in 1 John 1:9:

9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Just In: Christian Artist Jamie Grace Gets A Golden Ticket On ‘American Idol’

by Rhoda Gayle March 15, 2021
written by Rhoda Gayle

Well-known Christian artist Jamie Grace gets a golden ticket on her favorite show “American Idol” after she auditioned.

Jamie Grace

Jamie Grace Harper, popularly known as Jamie Grace, is an award-winning Christian musician. One of her hit songs is “Hold Me” which landed her a Grammy nomination and a Dove Award for New Artist of the Year. However, she has been an independent artist since 2016.

After leaving the record label she was signed to, she found it hard to sign into another Christian record label. She started releasing her music independently to continue her passion and calling for music. All those years, she has been praying for an opportunity for another record deal, and her prayer was answered through her favorite TV show, American Idol.

“Once I left, 5 years ago, I recorded my album ‘91’ but it was rejected by every Christian record I label I visited,” she explained. “So I decided to fund all of my music myself by being independent. It’s been a very AMAZING but challenging road and God opened this door to possibly pursue a record label again — so here we are!!”

American Idol

Today, the well-loved Christian artist surprised her fans with a Golden Ticket from American Idol! She recently posted a photo of herself holding the Golden Ticket on her Facebook page. She then explained that she auditioned for the ongoing season of American Idol and got two “Yes” from the show’s celebrity judges.

“Surprise!!! I’M GOING TO HOLLYWOOD,” she excitedly announced to her fans! “I made it through producer rounds, auditioned for @lionelrichie, @katyperry & @lukebryan & got two yesses (Lionel & Luke) which sent me to Hollywood!”

Unfortunately for her followers, her audition will not be aired on TV. But she assured me that she will be posting a YouTube video that will detail her audition experience.

Everyone will be expecting the 29-year-old Christian influencer on American Idol’s Hollywood round which will be aired next week.

Hollywood Actress Leaving ‘Black Lightning’ Superhero Series To Follow God

by Christel Berns December 3, 2020
written by Christel Berns

Hollywood actress China Anne McClain of “Black Lightning” says she is leaving the show to follow God’s leading even if it means “living off of a couple of pennies and a dime” for the rest of her life to do God’s work.

Black Lightning Actress

On Nov. 22, the actress shared on Instagram that season four of her superhero series would be her last season. Although she confirmed the rumors that the show is headed for cancellation, she pointed out that even if the show were to continue, it would still be her last act.

“All this is an illusion. It’s an illusion. This industry for what it is and everything people look to and praise, it’s not important,” she said in a lengthy Instagram post.

“God is moving me in more than one way than just this show. It’s bigger than just this show. I’m doing God’s work now and I’m not doing anything else. I’m just gon’ put it plainly,” the actress stressed.

Leaving Hollywood To Follow God

China also shared how the pandemic has led her into such a perspective. And she has decided to leave Hollywood to do God’s work.

“I’m not leaving because I had a terrible time working at the CW,” the Georgia native said.

“People that know me, they know why I make the decisions I make. They also know I never make a single one of them to hurt anyone or to affect anyone negatively. But I am doing God’s work now and that is all I’m doing. I don’t know why I was wasting time before.”

Then she shared her desire to follow God even if that means leaving everything behind. She declared while in tears, “When He calls I’m going to follow. I don’t care where He leads me, I don’t care if it’s in the middle of Timbuktu somewhere living off of a couple of pennies and a dime for the rest of my life with my family doing missionary work, I would leave all of this behind. I just made it to this point of my life now, during this quarantine.”

The ’Black Lightning’ actress says that nothing else can satisfy her but dedicating her life to God’s work. She wanted to “live her life awake.”

Moreover, she added that the entertainment industry today is missing the “spirit.” And from now on, she will be producing films with a message.

The Coming Of A New Golden Age

by Brian Taylor October 31, 2020
written by Brian Taylor

Last week, a friend shared a dream which she knew had prophetic significance. Although the key pieces of the dream appeared quite odd and perhaps even random, together with others, we began to see some amazing things that God wants His Church to have hope for. The new Golden Age is coming…Two things in particular drew my friend’s attention. What follows is what she shared with us what she wrote about the dream in her journal:

“I had a dream last night and it was Joe Montana going into full retirement. I realize that he has been retired for years but this was the dream. So, Joe Montana, going into full retirement,  full metal jacket (that was part of the dream). In the dream, I went onto Facebook and told Johnny Enlow about it and I gave my interpretation of the dream to him on Facebook.”

Recounting Insights

From this point on, she recounts what insights she was able to draw from the dream:

“So, Montana (I already knew this because I grew up in the state of Montana) the origin of the word is Latin and it means mountain. A full metal jacket is a bullet, fully enclosed in a metal or alloy different from the one of the actual bullet. Football is obviously on the Mountain of Arts and Entertainment; Joe Montana used to be a quarterback who played most of his career with the San Francisco 49’ers. We all know that 49’ers were those miners during the California Gold Rush of 1849. Then, Joe Montana finished his career with the Kansas City Chiefs (which, personally I find significant, especially given Bob Jones’s prophecy about the Kansas City Chiefs). When Montana first started his career, he won a national championship with Notre Dame. Notre Dame means ‘Our Lady,’ which means the Virgin Mary. Montana was born in New Eagle, Pennsylvania.”

This was the essence of what has been initially shared with me and a group of other friends. As we continued through the day, God began to give me a download of what I believe God is saying in the midst of that dream. It is quite significant and has great revelation for those who have been called to the Mountain of Arts and Entertainment.

Facts To Consider

Before I jump into what God shared with me, here are some interesting facts to consider, just focusing on Joe Montana that you may not have been aware of. While it is true that he ended his career as a Kansas City Chief, he was retired as a 49er. His jersey for the Niners was 16. Sixteen carries a prophetic significance as meaning perfected love. This stands out because my friend mentioned the Prophet Bob Jones, who had a unique prophecy related to the Kansas City Chiefs. He is also someone who, prior to his passing was known for asking the question, “Did you learn to love?”

Joe Montana’s jersey was retired in 1995 when he was just 38 years of age. While this might be considered normal in the realm of a football career, the standard age for retirement is between 65-67. Currently, Montana is 64-years old. So, if there is a timetable to consider with this dream, I believe God is signaling that what he is about to do, will happen or begin within the next one to three years.

The Jacket

I must also add that initially when I heard the reference to “full metal jacket” I did not only think of the term as a reference to the weapon but the movie. The British film by Stanley Kubrick, Full Metal Jacket is a war picture that takes place during Vietnam. It had a budget of $17M dollars and earned $120M dollars. It was released in 1987. This is the same year that Steve Young would be traded from Tampa Bay to San Francisco to be a backup for Montana.

Raising Up The New Golden Age

Here’s what I believe that God is saying. I believe that what God about to do is to raise up a new “Golden Age” for those called to the Mountain of Entertainment. The Golden Age of Hollywood was known as such because it was of its financial impact, as well as the glitz and glam of those who were involved. It also signaled the transition of technology, as they moved from the silent film in the late 1910s to the 1920s and even greater in the 1960s. See the 100-year aspect of this.

I should also mention that there is another Golden Age. It is the Golden Age of Comics. The Golden Age of Comic Books ranged between 1938 to 1956. This was the period when comics shifted from western, horror, detective, crimes, romance, and science fiction themes to superhero comics. When these superhero comics burst onto the scene, they gained popularity and birthed a bevy of other comic book companies.  This period also encompasses the Second World War and the beginning of the Vietnam Era. 1956 also happens to be the same year that Joe Montana was born.

Golden Age: Passing The Baton

I believe that there will be in essence a passing of the torch or baton to a new generation of people who will be clothed for acceleration and dynamic impact and influence. As one of the early reformers and expositors of the seven-mountain mandate, Johnny Enlow has often talked about a new renaissance era. This could play into that. Gold or something that is golden also emphasizes precious value. For those who are actors and actresses, one of the most honored things to receive is the golden statue. In film, it is the Academy Award. Or more commonly referred to as the Oscar. In television, there is the Emmy. In stage acting, it is the Tony. As far as gold is concerned, I don’t know if this is an aspect of the people or their character but in either case, to be considered golden is desirable.

Golden Years

Something else that I keep hearing is an American Treasure. This is a moniker of the sort that is given to someone who has had an illustrious public career. There will be some who fit this description. And they will be the torchbearers. They pass the torch to the next generation. I believe this has something to do with those who thought they were beyond the point of having influence. However, these are the ones being fitted for impact by being free to set up others to go and do. It’s almost as if they are launching them into their place of succession. Where some are often declining in their golden years, these will be strengthened and prosperous.

The Mountain of Arts and Entertainment has been a battlefield for the last 60 years. And I believe that as we are entering a new “roaring twenties”. We are going to see a shift in the fight to restore God’s glory. And a sense of luster to these creative spaces. So it honors the craft and the people who have desired to entertain and bring joy into the lives of others. Let us pray that we see God unfold this. And let’s encourage those who have the heart to take their place there.

Matthew McConaughey Talks About The Hurdles Of Being A Christian In Hollywood

by Rhoda Gayle October 27, 2020
written by Rhoda Gayle

Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey opened up about the hurdles of being a Christian in the entertainment industry, particularly Hollywood.

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey is an award-winning actor and producer who has been in the limelight since the 1990s. Throughout his years in the entertainment industry, he has experienced the hurdles of being a Christian in Hollywood. He claims to be a religious man who has his faith rooted in Christian beliefs.

In a recent virtual interview on The Joe Rogan Experience with host Joe Rogans, he opened up about some of those hurdles. He shared that some celebrities are too afraid to publicly acknowledge their faith and how it could affect their career.

“I have had moments where I was on stage receiving an award in front of my peers in Hollywood,” Matthew said. “And there were people in the crowd that I have prayed with before dinners many times.”

Christians in Hollywood

The 51-year-old actor explains why they such things happen and why he never condemns them for their actions.

“When I thank God,” he explained, “I saw some of those people go to clap, but then notice that, ‘This could be a bad thing on my resume,’ and then [they] sit back on their hands. I’ve seen people read the room and go, ‘That wouldn’t bode well for me in the future for getting a job or getting votes or what have you.’ I have seen that I have witnessed that. I don’t judge them for it.”

Cancel Culture

Matthew McConaughey also talked about the trend of “Cancel Culture” that is specifically visible in Hollywood. He spoke against this trend while talking about forgiveness.

“We’re making people personae non-gratae because of something they do that is right now deemed wrong or it’s the hot point in a hot topic right now,” Matthew told Joe. “You can’t erase someone’s entire existence. Where the heck does some forgiveness go?”

Creator Of ‘The Chosen’ Series: From Hollywood Filmmaker To God’s Filmmaker

by Christel Berns September 16, 2020
written by Christel Berns

The man behind the Christian hit multi-series “The Chosen” is a brilliant filmmaker who once directed and created movies in Hollywood. After a humbling experience with God, he decided he would make films for God.

Dallas Jenkins is the creator of the multi-season series “The Chosen.” It is a television drama based on the life of Jesus Christ.

Before “The Chosen”

In Dallas’ testimony, he shared the powerful story behind the creation of one of the biggest projects in the world right now. It all goes back to the time when he was making films in Hollywood.

“Actually, it comes from one of the most devastating moments and failures of my life,” he said.

The Chosen Creator

YouTube | DLM Christian Lifestyle

Dallas had been a filmmaker in Hollywood for ten years. He had a couple of successful projects like “Though None Go With Me,” “What If…” and “Hometown Legend.”

Moreover, when he moved to Chicago, he had the opportunity to work with one of the biggest producers in Hollywood along with a big production company.

“I always wanted to make it in Hollywood. I wanted to be approved of by Hollywood. And finally, it happened,” the Christian filmmaker recounted.

Eventually, Dallas landed a job creating the movie “The Resurrection of Gavin Stone.”

Devastating Moment And Failure

After filming, they tested the movie on random people and “it tested higher than almost any of the movies” that the partner companies had ever been involved in. Thus, they expected the movie to be successful and planned to do five more movies for the next ten years.

However, in January 2017, when the numbers came in, the movie was a complete flop. As a result, the companies who partnered with him pulled their investments.

“In just a couple of hours, I went from being a director with a very bright future to being a director with no future or at best an uncertain future,” he said.

Receiving A Word From God

Dallas and his wife cried out to God and prayed. His wife received a word from God about “the story of the feeding of the five thousand” and “I do impossible math.”

Photo | Zimbio

They didn’t clearly understand what God meant.

Then the next day, at four o’clock in the morning, a stranger from Romania suddenly contacted him. He told him, “Remember, it’s not YOUR job to feed the 5,000. Your job is to bring your bread and fish.”

The Chosen behind story

Dallas was absolutely stunned. But the man shared that he had felt led to release that specific word to him.

Learning The Lesson The Hard Way

Instantly, he woke up with vision for his life.

“I was going to need to let go of the control that I felt so good at having throughout my life and my career. I felt like I was good at solving problems. And I felt like I was good at getting my projects out to the world and making sure they were successful… But I realized at that moment that the way that I had been previously was not the way God wanted me to be. He wanted me to live inside His will and be content with that.”

The Chosen set

Photo | Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Further, he added, “And to be content with making sure that as long as what I provided to Him, what was good and healthy, whatever that may be small or large. That’s all He wanted from me. And that the success or failure of it was the world deems it, was not up to me.”

“The results are up to Him. So, I was content with that. I didn’t know what my future held. I just knew that I was willing to do whatever it took to provide what God wanted from me even if it was small. And even if that didn’t involve movies… I was genuinely willing to be okay with that as long as it pleased God.”

Leaving Hollywood And Trusting God

Eventually, he decided to do a short film for his church. It felt like a significant demotion for him from what he was doing, however, he was perfectly content with it. That’s when the idea of multi-season shows about the life of Christ came to him. He kind of put the idea aside because he thought it would be impossible, for it would cost millions of dollars.

But God was about to reveal greater plans for Dallas.

The short film he made caught the attention of a streaming service provider. The crowdsourcing miraculously exceeded their expectations as it went on the first spot of the top crowdfunded film with 11,109,659 dollars!

Dallas and his wife then understood what God meant when He gave the Word “I do impossible math.”

Today, in its first season, “The Chosen” has changed the lives of millions. Moreover, it also became one of the highest crowd-funded TV series and film projects of all time.

Now, that’s how God changed Dallas’s story into His story. And made “The Chosen” a multi-series hit drama that touched the hearts of millions around the world.
