A marine veteran who became homeless and had mental illness met Jesus in an out-of-body experience that totally turned his life around.
Marine Veteran Suffers Homelessness & Mental Illness
Troy Vaughn fell into drugs and homelessness after retiring from the Marines. In an interview with Charisma News, he shared how and why it happened. Apparently, he followed the downward path to life after his father died.

“My father was found dead in a porta potty in the city of Inglewood in a park, with a needle in his arm,” he told the outlet.
The tragedy led Troy to destruction as his childhood traumas began to surface. Soon, he became a homeless drug addict suffering from a mental illness. For many years, he struggled with it until God supernaturally encountered him.
Meeting Jesus
Troy shared that he “met Jesus” in an “out of body experience.” During that moment, the Lord “showed him the path of destruction him and many around the world were facing.”
“I made a covenant with God then,” he recalled. “I told Him if He would save me, I would serve Him the rest of my life.”
TOBYMAC CONFESSES HE QUIT READING THE BIBLE AFTER SON DIED, BUT GOD DREW HIM BACK
At that point, Troy realized his dire need for his Lord and Savior. Since then, his life was never been the same again. He also underwent a “12-step therapy process” to recover from everything he struggled with and eventually found God’s healing. God restored Troy’s life.
Later, he responded to God’s call to become a pastor. And today, he is leading as CEO of the Los Angeles Mission, “one of the nation’s largest service providers to the homeless.”
Further, the pastor advocates the “process of sanctification” to all believers. He believes that although we’ve given our lives to Christ, “doesn’t mean there isn’t past trauma that needs to be dealt with.” So, Troy encourages Christians “to walk through the process of self-examination.”
