In GOD TV’s “It’s All Greek To Me,” Pastor Chris highlights another Greek word, “elpis,” where he encourages believers to find hope instead of worry because God always offers His hope to us even when we feel hopeless.
Elpis Means Hope
Pastor Chris introduces the Greek word “elpis” to expound on its meaning. By definition, elpis is a favorable and confident expectation concerning the unseen. The word means “hope.”
He then turned to the Scripture in Hebrews 11:1, where it is written, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped (elpis) for, the evidence of things not seen.”
“A writer once said that hope is the feathers that are perched on the heart. And hope is just something that we can’t do without,” he said.
Pastor Chris pointed out how hopelessness is the worst thing to see in any person’s life. That’s why if you are feeling hopeless and helpless right now, God will give you hope.
“Everything about God gives us hope. Because God promised when He thinks about us, He has a hope and a future,” he added.
You Are Not Hopeless
Further, the pastor remarked that in every situation, there is always hope because of God. And he reminded every believer that the hope we find in Jesus will always be fulfilled. Because “hope is a confident expectation that something good is about to happen.”
Having no hope, according to Pastor Chris, means you believe you have no future. But if you have hope, you are believing and trusting that God is already in your future.
Then he encouraged, “Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, exercise your faith. For with faith, all things can happen.”
“Your hope you can’t see, your hope you can’t go and touch now. But I assure you that with the hope that you have and it’s enough hope in you to just reach out now.”
