A Maryland church donated two cars and over 100,000 pounds of food to their community that has been greatly affected during the coronavirus pandemic.
The i5 City Church in Glen Burnie, Maryland is extending their help to the people who have been impacted by the pandemic. Over the weekend, they were able to give away two new cars and 100,000 pounds of food to the community members in need.
“We have so many people in need and that are feeling hopeless and lonely. That what better way to get people together than to serve the community?” i5 City Church Pastor Jimmy Rollins said in an interview.

The relief effort of the church was drawn from God’s mission for His people written in Matthew 25: 34-36.
“God has called us to be the tangible hands and feet of Jesus. We do this by meeting practical needs in our community. And all this can be seen in our name ‘i5.’ The ‘I’ stands for IMPACT, and the ‘5’ is the five missional ways we impact the world: Food, Water, Shelter, Clothing, and Care,” the church explains on its website. “We are not just a church that does outreach, we are an outreach powered by a church. We live beyond ourselves, love beyond our preferences, and laugh beyond our struggles.”
Volunteers distributed food to hundreds of families who came. They also delivered the food boxes to the people who were unable to physically collect it.
Danyelle Thomas, a single mother who has been looking for a job was one of the people who received a car. She has been praying for God to give her a car that she could use to have better access job opportunities and to get her kids to the daycare. Danyelle said that the first thing she will do is to worship God inside her new Nissan Sentra.
“This is more than what I could have asked for; this car is literally new,” Danyelle said. “I feel blessed.”
Despite not being able to gather, the i5 City Church is still worshipping the Lord by helping their neighbors. We are called to help especially during this hard time where people are in need of support and help.
