Having been imprisoned for 30 years, this man forgot what being free felt like. But he found a way to free he wasn’t expecting!
Man Imprisoned For 30 Years
This man knew Jesus before being arrested, but he never had a relationship with Him. He thought it would be like that forever, but God had a different plan.
“I am sentenced to 30 years for armed robbery; knowing Jesus and having a relationship with Jesus is a big difference. And for many years, I knew Jesus. I knew of Jesus, but I didn’t have a relationship with Him,” he said.
But in 2008, this man received the freedom he longed for. Not physical, but freedom for his soul from the bondage of sin. The kind of freedom only Christ can give.
Man Imprisoned For 30 Years Has A Relationship With Jesus
“It was in 2008 that I came to have a relationship with Jesus. A prison without God? There’s no worse prison than any prison that man can ever make. And that was the prison that I was in… within this prison. In 2008, in May of 2008, the parole man, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ came in. And delivered me out of that prison of drugs and death. My life has been radically transformed since,” he testified.

Many hope that the prison will be filled with testimonies like his.
Now, this man, who was imprisoned for 30 years, has graduated from seminary and is leading hundreds of men to Jesus every week. We have never seen Christians as zealous for Christ as these ones who are behind bars.
God Behind Bars Ministry
“Since 2009, God Behind Bars has partnered with churches around the country to transform the lives of prison inmates and their families. Most prisoners—as many as 92% of all incarcerated individuals—will be released back to society at some point, and 75% of them will return to prison within three years. We address this problem with a unique three-step approach that focuses on the physical, spiritual, and relational needs of inmates and their families.
“By inviting God into prison and showing His love in tangible ways, God Behind Bars is restoring lives, building faith, fighting addictions, reconnecting families, and giving thousands of inmates hope for the future.” – God Behind Bars
