Imagine the scene. Jesus is led by the Spirit into the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights to be tempted of the devil. He’s tempted in the body, He’s tempted in His mind, and He’s tempted in His spirit. Yet He didn’t use some great heavenly host of angels, some secret thing that He and Father God had behind the scenes. No, He stood boldly as a man, the man, Christ Jesus, and looked Satan in the eye and said, “It is written. It is written. It is written.”
When we face the dark side, when we face the difficulties that we have in our own lives, do we have the courage to use the remedy that Jesus taught us 2000 years ago? Are we waiting for some magic thing to fall out of heaven when Jesus Himself quoted the word? The great lesson from today’s passage of scripture as part of our Do Not Be Afraid series is, is that the Lord Jesus Christ Himself has shown us a way to see Satan go, to see the darkness leave, and to see light prevail.
If Jesus quoted God’s word, then so should we. Remember these three profound words as we go through the challenges of today, as we go through the challenges of this season. If it’s good enough for Jesus, it’s surely good enough for us. It is written, it is written, it is written.
