“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.“(Matthew 16:24-27)
Giving your everything to Jesus might sound scary. Maybe you’ve held on to parts of your life for years, afraid of what surrendering to God might mean. I want to encourage you: God is the safest place for you to land. He is your kind Father and creator. Entrusting Him with your life is what you were made for.
Giving your everything begins with love
It is God’s love that calls us to himself. We know that when we experience fear, there is an opportunity to experience His love deeper.
“All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.” (John 6:37)
Our security in the Lord begins with His everlasting devotion to us. No matter what we do, or how we stray, our Good Father’s heart is always open to us. This is not a reason to live carelessly, but the true mercy and grace of God that we get to live in.
A prayer for you: God, thank you for this reader. Thank you for the incredible ways your love has drawn them close to your heart. I pray that they grow in confidence from your love, experiencing deep surrender in every area of their lives.
