Becoming aware of our self-limitations is crucial to growing in our walk with God. Learn to take yourself out of the box of expectations placed on you by culture, society, and limiting beliefs.
Identifying the expectations in your life
Whose lens do you view your life with? We are all new creations in Christ, but continually need our minds to be renewed in His truth and love. Our expectations are a reflection of where we place our faith. If I only have faith for what I can see in my own flesh, I will live a life that limits the awe and miracles of God. Some questions to ask yourself as you evaluate your own expectations in your life:
- do my dreams stir up hope or fear inside me?
- where did I first take on this expectation in my life?
- does this expectation require God’s supernatural nature?
God sized dreams take us beyond ourselves. They seek to impact the world with His goodness. They need God to intervene, requiring faith.
The box of expectations limits your vision to see further
God wants to take you beyond what you can see. As you answer these questions, give yourself permission. You have permission to dream radically with God. You have permission to invite God’s supernatural goodness into every area of your life. Let God’s generous, outlandish kindness bless you. Ask Holy Spirit to lead your dreams for yourself. Most importantly, put on the lens of God to see all that your life can become.
“As we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18)
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)
