Bill Johnson taught about mourning and hope three days after his wife’s passing saying, “God brings beauty out of ashes.”

On July 13, Beni Johnson passed away at the age of 67 after a long battle against cancer. Bill announced his wife’s death on his social media accounts saying that she’s now “Healthy and Free.” The entire Christian community is mounring her death and offered prayers for the Johnson family.
On Sunday, only three days after Beni’s homecoming, Bill Johnson delivered a touching yet powerful message. In his message, he spoke about mourning and hope. Christian author Kris Vallotton posted on Facebook some important notes from Bill’s preaching.

Mourning & Hope
Bill quoted verses Mark 16: 9-11 to teach about how mourning can keep a person from believing. He then continued to quote Matthew 5:4: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted,” to also point out that mourning can also lead to comfort.
“Mourning can lead you to comfort or it can lead you to unbelief… Hope is the joyful anticipation of good.”
He also preached about worshiping while mourning and how it is a privilege.
“Worshiping in pain is only possible on this side of heaven so this is a privilege.”
The mourning husband then ended his teaching by emphasizing that in every loss, there is a blessing. And that God can turn the ashes into something beautiful.
“Every loss is a seed that can bring life and blessings… God brings beauty out of ashes.”
Amidst his mourning for his wife’s death, he still kept his faith grounded in the Lord and still kept hope in his heart.
