Actor Chris Massoglia, who plays singer Pat Boone in the upcoming film ‘Reagan’, says the biographical movie will highlight the former president’s faith in all his dealings.
Biopic Film “Reagan”
Although it will not be a faith-based film, the Christian actor maintained how faith “appears naturally in key moments” in the 40th US President’s life. It will be released early next year.
In an interview with the Christian Post, Chris expressed his admiration for the late Ronald Reagan’s legacies. “I wasn’t alive during his presidency but studying him and his impact, I have a great appreciation for Reagan and the America I inherited because of him.”
He added, “This experience has given me a great appreciation for Reagan’s stand against communism and for the principles of freedom that he believed in.”
The movie ‘Reagan’ will feature the President’s moments before he entered the presidency. It includes his work in Hollywood, starring in the films “Dark Victory,” “Knute Rockne, All American,” and “Kings Row.”
During his time in Hollywood, Ronald met Pat Boone, the character Chris will be playing. The legendary Gospel Hall of Famer was an encourager of Ronald to run for the congress. “Later, when he ran for governor, I was one of the first in the entertainment community” to sign on in support for his actor-friend, Boone said.
It also showed where Reagan got his inspiration to do public service through his mother, Nelle. She was a devout Christian and minister in the church. She gave her son a book called “That Printer of Udell’s,” where Ronald sees himself in the main character’s role. The character was a young man who found God and went to Washington to become a congressman.
“It’s an inspiring and realistic portrait of one of our most consequential presidents,” Chris urged. “And I was honored to be asked to be a part of this film. I appreciate that it shows the ups and downs of his life, the setbacks, and the successes. My generation is cynical, and we don’t trust stories in which the main character is perfect.”
