Homeless Man

Kenneth Smith was a homeless man in Fort Worth, Texas. Without having anywhere to go, he sat outside an Outback Steakhouse, and that was when his life started to change.

A woman who left the restaurant spotted Kenneth and approached him. She asked if he was okay, and he answered her honestly that he was not okay. The kind-hearted woman then gave him a $100 gift card for Outback Steakhouse just so he could have a warm meal.

After he had a warm meal, Laura, the managing partner for the restaurant, spoke with him. Laura asked him to came back anytime to have warm meals.

“I said, ‘Hey, I don’t ever want you to want for food or go hungry,'” Laura said in an interview. “I want you to always have somewhere that you can get a warm meal.”

Outback Steakhouse

After five months of coming in for some warm meals, Laura offered him a job at the restaurant. From being a homeless man sitting outside the steakhouse, Kenneth now works as a waiter in the same food chain.

However, the Lord’s blessing for Kenneth didn’t just end there. Wanting to help him find a place to stay, Laura posted on a Facebook group asking for recommendations. But the generous strangers in the group went the extra mile to help him get back on his feet again.

New Beginning

Many offered to pay for Kenneth’s six weeks stay at the nearby Extended Stay hotel. Others also gifted him over $2,200 cash, a bicycle for his transportation, clothes, kitchen items, and groceries.

In the recent interview with WFAA, Kenneth is praising God for his goodness and for giving him a new beginning in life.

“I think it’s so much of a good blessing,” Kenneth said. “And it’s wonderful just to have people these days that’ll do things for you. This is a whole new beginning that God has blessed me with. So I’m trying to get on this right, good track that He wants me to stay on.”

The number 8 prophetically means a new life, resurrection, or a new beginning. When God said, He would destroy man from the earth because of their wickedness. Noah found grace in God’s eyes because he was righteous (see Genesis 6:5-8). God told Noah in Genesis 7:1, to go into the ark with his family to avoid harm from the flood and a new life and beginning on earth to start with Noah. Eight people went into the ark, Noah, with his wife and three sons with their wives (see Genesis 7:7, Genesis 9:18-19, 2 Peter 2:5).

Eight Thoughts For Living A New Life in Christ

The Word of God commands us to think about eight things to live a new life in Christ.

Whatsoever things are true,

Whatsoever things are honest,

And whatsoever things are just,

Whatsoever things are pure,

Whatsoever things are lovely,

and whatsoever things are of good report,

If there be any virtue, and

If there be any praise (see Philippians 4:8).

It was precisely 8 days that the doubting Thomas came to believe it, that Jesus appeared to the Apostles; this was the beginning of new life for Thomas (see John 20:25-29).

Prophetic Prayer

Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” whatever you decree with your mouth have a significant effect in your life. Romans 10:10 says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.” And Jesus said in Matthew 18:19, “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.”

Therefore there is a spiritual synergy between your mouth and your heart. Whatever you say with your mouth must agree with your heart, and with faith, you shall receive from the Lord, Amen. Faith is a decision and remember faith is required to receive from the Lord (see Mark 11:23-24).
