How is your spirit? We are a “spirit” being with a physical body, but are we fostering a nurtured spirit to become mature and healthy?
Since God is a Spirit and made us in His image (see Genesis 1:26) we should understand that we are “spirit beings” with a physical body. When we are born of the spirit (John 3:3, 5) and become a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17), the Holy Spirit comes to abide within us, which is to say He comes to take up residence in our spirit (John 14:17, 23). His presence facilitates us to develop an intimate relationship with the Lord. The indwelling Holy Spirit is the most precious gift that God has given us.
A Nurtured Spirit In A Dark World
Many of us are currently navigating an ever-darkening spiritual, cultural, and political ocean filled with rip tides and treacherous currents; however, we don’t need to be influenced or controlled by them. I’m so glad about that, aren’t you? Instead, we can swim in the living water that flows in our spirit and thus stay in the divine “flow”.
In our spirit resides the Holy Spirit, with all His wisdom, direction, vision, revelation, insight, discernment, love, peace, freedom, counsel, and joy which are all available to us when we are in a place of intimacy with Him. From this “secret place,” we can recognize a voice or influence that does not fit into what the Holy Spirit is revealing to us or doing in our lives.
In fact, those influences do the opposite and steal our peace. They have an agenda to disturb and trouble us, to bring confusion and distress, to manipulate our thoughts and feelings, and deflect us from God’s heart and purposes. Satan does not care what flow you are in, so long as it’s not the one that flows from your spirit).
I long for you to discover that staying in this flow is the secret to being entwined with God.
It’s integral to experiencing peace and freedom and means you are not intimidated, manipulated, or controlled by external forces.
A Nurtured Spirit Brings Empowerment
It empowers you to say “No” to any person or force that is not aligned to what is flowing out of your spirit.
In this inner flow, you are empowered to reject anything and everything that is competing for your attention, allegiance, loyalty, or resources. You can also learn to live above fear and circumstances.
It’s here that you find the confidence that you are attuned to what is on God’s heart. These things take time to develop and mistakes are part of the journey to maturity. Know that these mistakes do not define you or determine your destiny, but simply refine you. As you live in the flow that comes from your spirit you discover that God is able to show you that “all things do work together for good...” (Romans 8:28)
Spiritual Resources
“The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all the innermost parts of his being.” (Proverbs 20:27).
This Bible quote, along with others many others, confirm that we have a spirit. And that it’s where the Holy Spirit lives. Our spirit functions like a filter through which everything should pass to keep us “in the flow” and “on track.
His presence inside us empowers us to be fruitful and brings us the knowledge of God’s heart. It is also where we find all the spiritual resources that we need for “life and godliness.
Embrace Holy Spirit and He will fill your life with; An inexpressible joy, A peace beyond comprehension, An unfailing hope, Assurance of God’s love and affirmation. Learn how to listen with your spirit and how to “sense” the Holy Spirit active in your spirit. These are vitally important to our journey of following Jesus, and a key to our spiritual growth and fruitfulness.
