Oprah Winfrey Recommends Gospel Singer Tamela Mann To Star On Upcoming Faith-Based Film

The entertainment icon Oprah Winfrey recommended the Gospel singer Tamela Mann to star in an upcoming faith-based film.

Tamela is a Grammy award-winning Gospel singer and actress known as a former member of the gospel group Kirk Franklin and the Family. Today, she is set to star in an upcoming faith-based film titled, “The Color Purple.” In a recent interview, she revealed that it was the legendary Oprah Winfrey who suggested that she take the role of the pastor’s wife in the film.

“She was like, ‘This needs to be Tamela Mann. … Some people haven’t heard of you, but I felt like they need to hear from you,'” the gospel singer remembered. “I just got chills right now. The honor of how the Lord just used her to speak on my behalf.”

The Hollywood artist said that she is grateful for this opportunity. The musical is set to be released in December 2023.

“The cast was amazing, everyone that I met was amazing. It was just so much love in the room. It’s going be so beautiful,” Tamala said.

She also revealed in the interview that she will be releasing the deluxe edition of “Overcomer,” her latest album.

“After rehearsing some of the songs, I was like, ‘I want to do them over life.’ Because doing it live and having some people in the room with me and worshiping with me, it just took it to another level,” she said.

Tamala also noted that by doing these works that the Lord wanted her to do, she is bringing hope and inspiration to people.

“I feel like I’m bringing some hope; I’m bringing some inspiration to people. And I know those words have been used before, but I really believe, and my hope is that the songs just really dig really deep in us so that we can finish what God has started in us. That we can complete the work that He’s doing in us.”

The home renovation experts were featured on Oprah Winfrey’s “Super Soul Sunday” show last weekend. During the interview, they candidly talked about their success and family life. As they went on with their talk, Oprah was impressed by Joanna’s ability to hear God, that was when they detailed how God interacts with them individually.

Oprah asked the Christian couple how she hears God’s voice. She asked whether it was a “voice in your head, is it a feeling, is it prayer?”

Joanna responded: “all three of those things, for sure,” along with an overwhelming “presence of peace.” She then continued to differentiate God’s voice and her mind.

“I will say there probably been five pivotal moments in my life where I can say that was God’s voice, that was Him, and I felt the sense of peace, almost like that moment where you get chills and you know there’s something else,” Joanna Gaines explained.

The mom of five also shared to Oprah why she stayed away from religion and how she connected with God relational.

“That’s something that since I was a little girl, I’ve experienced God in that real way, very relational,” she emphasized. “With the idea of religion, I shy away from that, my relationship with God, it’s like no one else’s God is so creative that I can’t impose what my belief. … He shows up in beautifully unique ways for all of us.”

Chip Gaines also shared to Oprah how he hears God’s voice differently than his wife. The 46-year-old TV personality shared that he hears and experiences God during his everyday work.

“God shows up for me in very practical real ways. Like I work, that’s how I meet with God,” he stated. “When I sweat, and when I’m lonely, I’m sad, I’m mad about something. I mean, when you chop firewood, or [on] demo day. You don’t have to have any talent to be good at demolition. You just want to break stuff.”

In 2018, the professing Christian couple ended their first installment of “Fixer Upper” to resolve some struggles they had with their fame. Now in 2021, the new series titled “Fixer Upper: Welcome Home” will be returning on their own cable network, Magnolia.

Oprah Says We’ve Lost Our ‘Core Moral Center’ Provided by Churches

Media queen, Oprah Winfrey, recently spoke out about the mass shooting epidemic in America and her answer was as unexpected as it was dead on.

To the surprise and most likely chagrin of her more liberal followers, Oprah – one of the most powerful people in media – said the problem is a moral/spiritual one with a solution that is anything but political.

Amidst the public outcry and clatter over gun control, Oprah Winfrey called us back to church.

“I think what people are missing is a core moral center. Churches used to do that,” She told “Extra” host Renee Bargh when asked, “What can we do? What is the answer?”

“Churches used to do that… It was a central place you could come to and there was a core center of values about a way of living and a way of being in the world. Until we can return to that, however that is, in whatever form, we will continue to be lost.”

The Faith of Oprah Winfrey

Oprah’s belief that church defined our moral values doesn’t come out of left-field. The 65 year old media executive, actress, talk show host, producer and philanthropist was raised in the church and credits her Baptist roots for much of her success and spiritual foundation. She sees the importance of faith and the role of the church in creating a society which embraces empathy, civil duty, and a respect for human dignity.

Whether or not she is still a follower of Jesus is between her and the Lord, but it is obvious that the Lord has instilled in her wisdom, compassion and gifts, and given her great favor. Oprah’s appeal for America to return to its core moral center is evidence that the Holy Spirit is calling back the prodigals, urging us to find our refuge in His Church.

“Until we can return to that… we will continue to be lost.”
