Two Christian Movies’ OST (Original Soundtrack) nominated for Best Original Song award and performed on Oscar’s 2020 stage.

The 2020 Best Original Song nominees are “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” from Toy Story 4, “Into The Unknown” from Frozen 2, “Love Me Again” from Rocketman. “Stand Up” from Christian movie Harriet, and “I’m Standing With You” from Christian drama Breakthrough.

Breakthrough
Chrissy Metz performed “I’m Standing With You” at the 2020 Oscars on Sunday night. It was also the singer-actress’ debut on Oscars and she dedicated her performance to her mother. The song is for the Christian drama film Breakthrough directed by Roxann Dawson starred by Chrissy herself. It was released in April 2019.
The film is based on the true story of a teenager who was under the icy water for 15 minutes in January 2015. It portrays a family holding on to their faith despite the uncertain condition of their son.
Harriet
Another Christian movie that received the nomination was the song “Stand Up” from the Christian movie Harriet. The film is about a Christian woman who single-handedly rescued more than 70 slaves. It is a biographical film directed by Kasi Lemmons starred by Cynthia Erivo herself.
Cynthia’s powerful performance of the song during the Oscars night received a standing ovation. In addition to the Best Original Song nomination, the 33-year-old actress also received the nomination for Best Actress for her work in the film. The film released in November 2019 and hit the box office with over $ 43.3 million gross earning.
Oscar’s 2020
“Love Me Again” by Elton John and Bernie Taupin from Elton’s biopic, Rocketman, won the Best Original Song award. In just less than a year from its release, the song has already won four different awards. The song won “Best Original Song” for the 77th Golden Globe Awards, “Best Song” at the 25th Critics’ Choice Awards, “Best Original Song” at the 24th Satellite Awards and it recently won “Best Original Song” for the 92nd Oscar’s Academy Awards.
