“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth” (Psalm 127:3)
Being a parent is one of the most important titles we could wear. God entrusts us to raise up his little ones, learning how to love, discipline, and pour all that we have into another person. It is sacrificial and important work. Parents, be reminded, that you were handpicked by God to raise your babies.
Handpicked by God to be your children’s parent
You are not an accidental parent. God placed your kid’s unique personalities and spirit to be under your influence. There is a reason your son’s stubborn nature or daughter’s tender spirit may not be the easiest for you to learn how-to navigate. God wants to teach you through your kids. Your specific design has something to contribute to them that no one else could. Knowing this, you get to parent from a place of authority. There is so much purpose for you in this call. As you parent with Father God, you will learn more about His love. In return, your children will empower your life, not place limitations on it. Prepare to be inspired by the people that they develop into, in awe of God’s wonderful design for your family.
Up for the call
Maybe you have days you don’t feel up for the role. Maybe you have become all too aware of your shortcomings. Are you listening to the voice of God or the accuser? As the protector of your children and family, it is your responsibility to turn up the voice of hope for your household. Cancel any agreement with fear, choosing faith for God’s empowering grace.
“You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 2:1)
