Evangelical pastor Jentezen Franklin has called for U.S. churches to pray and fast for their nation for 21 days. The event will start on August 1 and will end on August 21.
America is in one of the most turbulent seasons in it’s history. Recently, a survey showed that most Americans think negatively of their country and do not expect it to get better. As the nation continues to face unrest, Pastor Jentezen Franklin sees the need for God’s divine intervention.

With that view, the senior pastor of Free Chapel has urged believers to join in 21-days of prayer and fasting. He’s also providing online prayer services and free fasting materials.
“I’m asking every Christian in every city in America to pray and to fast,” Franklin declared. “In Jesus’ name, we will find the strength to persevere through challenges and to ensure a bright future for our families and our communities.”
“In moments like these the church prays, and the church acts. We pray for a vaccine, we pray for those facing economic challenges,” he said.
He added, “We pray for our children whose education and lives have been disrupted. We pray for those who are lonely and who feel lost in anxiety. “
Furthermore, Pastor Franklin shared that our prayers need to be accompanied by righteous actions. “We also act: giving to those who need help, protecting our vulnerable loved ones, tutoring children who are behind in their studies, and helping people register to vote.”
“Now is the time. This is the hour to fast and to pray for our nation and for its future,” he concluded.
He shared his invitation with a post on his social media page along with an image that says, “Fasting is not so we can get more of God. It is so God can get more of us.”
