A Washington Chick-Fil-A restaurant delivered 1000 meals to hospital staff serving as COVID-19 frontlines.
Washington state has over 1,800 COVID-19 cases and about 18% mortality rate. The PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is among the hospitals in the state that caters COVID-19 patients.
To maximize their facility, they are postponing elective surgeries for the time being. They are also restricting visitor access while the virus is still a public health threat.
“Out of an abundance of caution and learning from our partners in the Seattle area, we are taking these steps to protect our patients, caregivers and community, and to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community,” the hospital said in a statement.
To support the hospital staff in this time, a Chick-Fil-A restaurant extended their service to the hospital staff. The Chick-Fil-A in Cascade Park in Vancouver, Washington delivered 1000 meals to the hospital four miles away.
“We are so grateful to [owner] John Dombroski and his team at Chick-fil-A Cascade Park in Vancouver for delivering and serving 1,000 meals to our hard-working caregivers today,” the hospital wrote on their Facebook page. “Your kindness in a tough time is appreciated more than you can know.”
One hospital worker said that the restaurant’s kindness brightened their day amid the COVID-19 crisis.
“Thank you so much Chic fil a,” one worker wrote on Facebook. “We are all so appreciative of your kindness! it was delicious and brightened our workday!”
The global crisis is sparking unity and kindness across the globe. Everyone from across the world and different cultures are fighting together as one. May this act of kindness by Chick-Fil-A inspire everyone to help those who are in need, especially during this situation, in whatever way they can.
