Pentatonix’s singer Kevin Olusola shared what being a Christian in the mainstream music entertainment industry looks like.
Kevin Olusola grew up in a Christian home. Even before he pursued his career in the music industry, he lived out strong Christian morals in his life. The 34-year-old singer makes sure that he is focusing on the word of God because his relationship with Jesus Christ is the only thing that is everlasting.
Pentatonix was formed in 2011 and won the third season of NBC’s Sing-Off. Since then, the acapella group started making a name in mainstream music. Kevin believes that it was God who brought the group together.
“I believe in God, and I believe this was a God-given thing that happened, it just clicked so well. Most of us didn’t have a capella background and we met the day before the audition,” he said.
As a Christian in the industry, he is using his platform to share the love of Jesus Christ with everyone. He wanted to show people who Jesus Christ is in his life and to share his testimony with them.
“That’s why when you see my tweets when you see my Facebook messages, I always try to tweet things that are uplifting and not be afraid to show people that we can be Christians in the industry. ”
Kevin also humbly admits that he is not a perfect Christian, but he strives to live out what he believes in.
“I’m not perfect, I would never say that, I just believe that if I try my hardest to be consistent, show what I believe, and live it, most importantly, then that will hopefully shine through more. I guess that’s kind of the prayer for what I do.”
His daily prayer is that God would use him as a messenger for the lost. And that through his life and his testimony, people would get to know Jesus Christ.
“Lord let me be the messenger, you come through me, because if it’s not from you then it doesn’t really matter.”
