How many would have imagined even a month back that the nations of the world would be sheltered in place? I certainly didn’t see this coming. The Word of God says that “Heaven and earth shall pass away but my words shall by no means pass away.” (Matthew 24:35) Let us hold on to God and His word in that secret place.
Philippians 4:6 says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” And verse 7 goes on to say, “the peace of God which surpasses all understanding that will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Many are praying and in fact, prayers are increasing as these are desperate times.
Every believer needs to grow closer to God to get under the shadow of the Almighty God and from that place declare: God is my refuge and my fortress and in Him will I trust.
The Secret Place
God wants us to intentionally be in that secret place which is the closest place a child of God could get to the Almighty God. There are some people that stand far off and just wonder if God will ever respond. On the other hand, there are some people in the scripture that were in that secret place and God did mighty miracles through them.
Moses is a good example. He knew what it meant by dwelling in the secret place of the Most High before he wrote Psalm 91 (although some say David wrote this psalm). God commanded Moses to cut two tablets of stone, get ready in the morning, and come up to Mount Sinai and present himself to God on the top of the mountain. No other man or even animals were allowed. Moses did exactly what God had commanded him. Then God descended in the cloud and stood with Moses there. What an experience! Read Exodus 34:1-4.
God’s Protection
Psalm 91:4 says, “His truth shall be your truth and buckler.” The shield is the broad piece of metal held by straps or handles used as a protection against blows or missiles. A buckler is a smaller version of a shield. When we walk in the truth, we have that shield. As God’s children, this is the time we take an inventory of our lives and walk in that protection of the Lord. When you walk in the truth, you can boldly come to the throne of grace. Hebrews 10:19, says “…since we have boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus…” Let us not wander in the outer courts. Let us press in, let us dig deep and let us get to the secret place of the Most High God.
John G. Lake, a mighty man of God, called to serve God during the Bubonic plague in South Africa is a great example. He would not have escaped the plague if he was not dwelling in the secret place of the Most High God. The germs died in his hands. God promises that He shall deliver us from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. Fowler is a trapper and the perilous pestilence is the dangerous plagues.
Be Strong In The Lord
Right now, we can say that the COVID-19 is that perilous pestilence. America has the most number of cases at this time. The White House has projected an alarming number of possible deaths. In the midst of all that is going on, God wants His children to be steadfast and immovable. This is not the time for God’s people to panic. This is the time to abound in the work of the Lord according to I Corinthians 15:58. God will not only give you a strong assurance of
His protection, he will use you in this crisis, as a channel of His healing, restoration, deliverance, and blessing. The enemy might throw fiery darts, but nothing shall by any means hurt His children. Let us be strong in the Lord and in
the power of His might!
Let us look at what happened in Egypt. The locusts went up over all the land of Egypt and rested on all the territory of Egypt. This brought about a great famine in the land. They were very severe (Exo 10:14). In verse 16, Pharaoh repents and that is when God responds. God wants to see repentance before He could respond. God answers the prayers from a heart that is contrite. And verse 19 says, “And the Lord turned a very strong west wind, which took the locusts away and blew them into the Red Sea.” There remained not one locust in all the territory of Egypt. Praise the Lord! Let us ask God to send a ‘very strong west wind’ to remove the Coronavirus. With God all things are possible!
Final Words: Secret Place
The need of the hour for the nations of the world is to see the plague stopped immediately. Our responsibility in the Body of Christ is to come closer to God and be in the secret place of the most High and pray for the atonement of the people. Are we going to wring our hands and see what is happening all around us or are we going to act on God’s word? Let us stand between God and the people that are battling COVID-19. Let us do what we can do. Our God will do what man cannot do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
