We Must Operate In The Overflow To Avoid Burnout

Walking in the spirit is not easy in the flesh. The flesh operates by sight and this is not the way of the spirit. The spirit operates by faith. This is a different dimension to walking by sight. Faith sees what is not seen yet believes. He who comes to God must believe He exists. It is impossible to please God without faith. God has not made it impossible for us to walk this walk of faith. He sent His Holy Spirit to help us in our walk. Now we must be filled with Him so that we trust Him more than we trust ourselves. When we trust Him He comes through for us. All the saints who have gone before us are a testament of their trust in God.

Be Filled

God wants us to be filled in the Holy Spirit like a tank is filled. He also wants us to overflow in the Spirit. Being filled is sufficient for us to function but the overflow enables us to bless others. Filling our own tank meets our needs but we are here to bless. Blessing will flow out of us to bless others and meet their needs. Many are hungry and thirsty and unless we reach out they will surely die. The baptism in the Spirit is a requirement for the overflow. This baptism was manifested in the gift of tongues. It is as if the overflow spilled out in tongues. Now as we pray in tongues we begin to prime the pump to start the overflow.

Praying In Tongues

I have found that praying in tongues has enabled me to flow in the overflow. Many things that appeared impossible became possible in the overflow. People were affected around me and the atmosphere shifted. Many times we enter a space where there is a spirit of strife and our presence calms the atmosphere. Many solutions come forth in daily mundane matters. Creative thoughts and visions manifest in the overflow. Healing and deliverance manifest in the overflow. Ministry becomes a joy rather than a burden. We are refreshed rather than washed out. Today let us operate in the overflow and glow for Jesus.

The Power of Praying In Tongues

So I wanna talk to you about tongues. I actually struggled to initially receive tongues. I grew up in a really religious culture and household, and so receiving tongues was something of a battle for me. But I believed it was a gift from the Lord.

So for the first while, this was when I was a teenager, a long time ago, I just had a few words that I had faith to believe were tongues. And then later I got a phrase. So I was using for a while those phrases and those words. And then one day I was praying at my kitchen sink washing the dishes. And just somehow there was grace to be able to release tongues. First of all, tongues, the word says, that tongues edify. And that word ‘edify’ is where we get the word ‘edifice’. Tongues build. They actually build something in our lives. Tongues create a structure in our lives. They actually strengthen our inner being; our spirit. Tongues are an amazing thing. Often when I do inner healing ministry, and often when I’m coming to minister to someone, I will just pray in tongues the whole ride, the half hour ride, because I know that tongues are edifying, they’re building something in my spirit. They’re preparing something in my spirit.

Another thing about tongues that’s really wonderful is that often I have, and 1 Corinthians 14 talks about tongues and interpretation of tongues. We as individuals can actually speak in tongues. And then our English prayers are often the English interpretation of what our spirits through the Holy Spirit were praying. So tongues are actually this amazing gift of being able to pray according to heaven what needs to be prayed. The scripture often says we don’t know how to pray, but the Holy Spirit helps us pray. Well, one of the ways He helps us pray is by praying in the Spirit in tongues. So we pray in tongues and we travail in tongues. And after a while, it’s like suddenly we know how to pray in English, or a scripture comes to mind and we can pray that with authority. What we may not realize, is that our praying in tongues has actually created in English or in whatever language you speak, has created an ability for us to express what the Holy Spirit was releasing in the realm of the Spirit.

So tongues are a powerful, powerful thing; a gift for each one of us. Some of my friends have said, “Well, I don’t have the gift of tongues.” If you are baptized in the Holy Spirit, you can say, “Holy Spirit, I’m receiving the gift of tongues. Give me the gift of tongues.” You can have someone lay hands on you and pray, or you can just ask God, “Give me the gift of tongues.” And then sometimes we just need to step over the stupid line; like, “I feel really awkward making these syllables.” Sometimes it’s just our mind that’s arguing with this can’t be God. And for a while when I first was doing tongues, I had those thoughts, but I kept doing it. And after a while it’s like my faith just grew and grew.

So keep at it and don’t feel like you have to wait until it comes on you. You can, if you’re baptized into Holy Spirit, you can receive the gift of tongues and begin practicing it with the Holy Spirit’s help. So bless you.

Let me pray for you. God, I pray blessing and anointing on the tongues for this one that is hearing me. Father, I pray that you would release to them through your Spirit, the anointing of tongues, the power of tongues, the fire of tongues, and the release of the interpretation of tongues in their prayer closet. I ask that you would show them the anointing and the power of the gift of tongues. One final word. The best book I’ve ever read on tongues is by Corey Russell, and it’s called The Glory Within. Speaking In Tongues

Today I want to talk to you about the power of speaking in tongues. Now I grew up in a church where none of that was happening. As a matter of fact, I thought it was pretty weird when I finally joined a church that taught me out of the word with tongues, came from the importance of it, et cetera, et cetera. I remember even going to a conference where the preacher said, “Now everyone speak in tongues.” And I thought, “Oh my gosh, we’re praying in tongues in a public place.” Because I was told that that was a cult. You know, our church was being ridiculed for that. And I just realized out of the word, this is such a powerful weapon that the enemy has tried to hide from the church because when we pray in tongues, he does not understand what we are saying, and we are bypassing the brain, which is basically most of the time, human limitation.

And we get to pray in the perfect will and word of the Lord. I remember even walking around at a waterfront one time and suddenly tongues just came over me and I was praying in tongues. I was like, “Okay.” And as I came around the corner, I realized there was a massive New Age fair. And I go, I would not have been able to think that out, but God knows when He needs to align you to have you pray a certain way. And sometimes we might ask too small, we might think too small. In the book of Acts, Acts 2, Jesus had everyone waiting in the upper room and He said, “Don’t leave until you’ve received my Holy Spirit.” And it says that as they were waiting, what sounded like a mighty rushing wind came into that place. And suddenly what looked like tongues of fire came and landed on each one of them and they received tongues.

And so I want to encourage you, because 3000 people got saved just from that encounter. As strange as it might seem, I want to tell you, there’s nothing as amazing as praying in the Spirit of God, knowing that the King of the universe, the Spirit is praying through your mouth, the perfect will and alignment of God. You’ve got blessing and cursing coming out of your mouth. And God is so big, He bypasses our brain. And so right now, if you’ve not yet received your spiritual tongue, I want to pray this over. You just receive this right now, as we release the baptism of the Spirit. Father, right now in Jesus’ Name, I pray for the fire of heaven. That same Spirit that came in the book of Acts to come upon every listener right now. I thank you, Jesus. We loose the tongues. We will release that baptism from the tips of your toes to the top of your head. And some of you are going to feel heat. Some of you are going to start thinking, “Whoa, something’s happening.” But I wanna encourage you just start praying, let it bubble up inside of you, and I right now in the Spirit, I just lay hands on you. And I say, receive, in Jesus’ Name. And keep praying in tongues. You’re changing the world.

Are We Listening To God Or To Man?

During these days of turmoil we need an anchor. Our anchor is God. You will hear many voices vying for your attention but you need to listen to His voice.

Until we know His voice, we will be tossed about like the waves – here, there and everywhere. We need to hear His voice. Jesus said My sheep hear My voice and follow Me. If He said it, then He meant it. If we say we are not hearing His voice it makes Him a liar or we are hard of hearing. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your ears to hear Jesus.

Hearing His Voice

Our identity is in Him. He is the Word. Read His word for many hear Him through His written word. Some hear His audible voice. Most have a clear impression as a revelation in their spirit. I hear Him through revelation. A thought or word or sentence is suddenly down-loaded and my spirit says it is Him, like the title of this post. I then allow Him to flow through me with His thoughts, which I write down in my blog. Others may have visions or dreams, which I rarely have.

We are all wired differently, and God speaks to us in different ways. We need to be in His presence to hear Him, see Him, and feel Him.

Children Of God

God has not left us as orphans. He has called us His beloved children. Like a loving Father He wants to commune with us. We need to give Him time and space for this. Jesus spent a lot of His time alone with His Father. He only did what He heard and saw His Father doing. We can also do the same.

In these days God is calling us to an intimate time with Him. He will not abandon us. I yearn to hear Him daily. Nothing can replace His voice. Pray in tongues and then immediately speak in your own language and be amazed as what comes out. His Spirit in us will show us the way. Trust Him completely. He will give us wisdom to know what to do. Be blessed.
