The great commission was given to ALL believers: to preach the gospel and share the transformative power of Jesus Christ.
What Does the Bible Say?
Mark 16:15 holds this charge: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” This commandment from Jesus beckons you to step out in faith, boldly declaring the Good News to a broken and hurting world.
As a follower of Christ, you are entrusted with a responsibility, known as the Great Commission. Matthew 28:19-20 affirms, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Your mandate is clear: to share the gospel, make disciples, and nurture them in the ways of the Lord.
The gospel is not a mere ideology or philosophy; it is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16). It holds the key to eternal life and transformation. When you preach the gospel, you are offering the greatest gift of all—the opportunity for individuals to be reconciled with God and experience His abundant love and grace.
Your motivation to preach the gospel should stem from the deep wellspring of God’s love within you. 2 Corinthians 5:14 says, “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.” The love of Christ will ignite a fire in your heart and compel you to share His love with others. It should drive you to step outside of your comfort zones and reach those who are lost, broken, and in desperate need of the Savior.
As a steward of the gospel, you have been entrusted with a priceless treasure. Don’t keep this treasure hidden but rather, share it generously with those around you. Through your words, actions, and lifestyle, may you reflect the love and truth of Christ, pointing others to Him.
Friend, the call to preach the gospel is not limited to a select few but is extended to all who profess faith in Jesus Christ. Heed this divine mandate with a sense of urgency and compassion. May you be bold in your proclamation, sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and filled with unwavering faith.
