If you’re reading this right now, perhaps you’re shocked that I told you to “stop waiting.” Yes, you read that right though. Stop waiting for your prince charming.
I heard from many single women nowadays that a woman should prepare herself. To be patient and prepare for her future spouse in the waiting season. But the odd thing is, is this really God’s purpose for our waiting season? Is it really for a future spouse?
As a single Christian woman, I believe that life is more than just having a lifetime partner. Yes, we wait on God to bring His best upon our lives, but it does not just revolve around that area in our life.
It was also the well-known Christian athlete Tim Tebow who said, “You don’t need to wait. And you don’t need to be patient. You need to wait for that person but in life, you’re not waiting at all.”
Does this mean a woman should stay single for a lifetime? No, it only means that we should not close our minds to the bigger things God has for our lives than just marriage. God intended so much more for our lives than just that.
Tim further pointed this out, “You’re going after your passion. You’re going pursuing God.”
It means that above all, you should pursue your first calling. Which is seeking God and His purposes for your life. Your life doesn’t start when you get married but in the here and now. Neither does your purpose start when some prince charming comes along. Your purpose had already begun the moment God created you.
Tim shared a bit of advice on what mindset we need to have as a single Christian.
“We need to have that mindset of, ‘I’m preparing, I’m pursuing, what God has on my life, what God has called me to, the purposes, the passion, the meaning.’”
So, stop waiting for your prince charming and start pursuing God and His purposes for your life. And someday, God will unexpectedly bring you a teammate for His glory.
