Let’s explore some practical prompts to help you apply this verse to your life:

Embrace the Power of Hope: When discouragement and sadness threaten to overwhelm your heart, remind yourself of the power of hope in God. Choose to shift your focus from the circumstances to the faithfulness of your Savior. Anchor your hope in His promises, knowing that He is with you and will guide you through every season of life.

Seek God’s Presence: In moments of discouragement, intentionally draw near to God’s presence through prayer, worship, and meditation on His Word. Allow His peace to fill your heart and His truth to renew your mind. Find solace in His loving embrace and let His presence bring comfort and strength to your weary soul.

Speak Words of Praise: Despite the heaviness in your heart, purposefully lift your voice in praise to God. Declare His goodness, faithfulness, and sovereignty. As you magnify His name, the weight of discouragement will begin to lift, and your perspective will shift to the greatness of your Savior.

Find Encouragement in Community: Surround yourself with fellow believers who can provide support, encouragement, and prayer. Share your burdens with trusted friends who can uplift you and remind you of God’s faithfulness. Engage in worship and fellowship with other believers, finding strength in the unity of the body of Christ.

Remember, in times of discouragement, you have a choice to make. Choose to put your hope in God, to praise Him despite your circumstances, and to seek His presence. He is your Savior and your God, and He will never leave you nor forsake you. Allow His love and hope to guide you through every season of life.

Prayer

With a heart filled with gratitude, I lift my voice to You, expressing my deep thankfulness for Your abiding presence and the precious gift of Your word. In humble reverence, I acknowledge Your unwavering love and limitless grace that sustains me each day. Your word is a treasure that I desire, and I want to hide it within the depths of my heart, so that I may not stumble or yield to sin.

As the Psalmist proclaimed in Psalm 119:11, I am aware that by storing Your word within me, I discover the strength and guidance needed to resist the snares that surround me. May Your word continually dwell within me, transforming my thoughts, desires, and actions. I want to live according to Your statutes and ask that Your light shines through me, bringing honor and glory to Your matchless name. Amen.

Letting The Lord Be The Light To Your Path

In middle school, I attended a local vacation bible school. All week we learned new songs in anticipation for the Saturday performance for our parents. Each morning, we would check in and make our way into a music room, where the spunky teacher would go over the day’s memory verse. Psalm 119:105 was one, and after all these years, I’ve never forgotten it.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

For an impressionable youth, this verse provided such a secure foundation and trust, knowing God’s word would lead my future path.

We are all on a journey. Our life is taking us across our time on earth, into our eternal destinies with Christ. Knowing this, we get to choose what will be the lamp to light our paths.

What is the light to your path?

Is God’s word your first source of direction? Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the word of God is living and active. When we open His word, we can encounter Jesus, who is the word made flesh. We can choose to be led by Jesus in all aspects of our lives. It all begins with what word we prioritize listening to.

God’s word

The word of the Lord prospers, teaches, and edifies us. It never changes, despite our ever-changing world and culture. It’s foundation is trustworthy. I encourage you, this week, to seek out the Word of the Lord to light your path.

“I have kept my feet from every evil path

so that I might obey your word.

¹⁰²I have not departed from your laws,
    for you yourself have taught me.
¹⁰³How sweet are your words to my taste,
    sweeter than honey to my mouth!
¹⁰⁴I gain understanding from your precepts;
    therefore I hate every wrong path.

¹⁰⁵Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.” (Psalm 119:101-105)

A supernatural strategy for seeing God work is to delight in the Lord no matter how difficult the situation may be.

Robert Hotchkin reveals to us the key to seeing every circumstance turn for good and that strategy is delighting in the Lord. Hotchkin is urging us to delight in Him amidst the challenges that we are in right now.

“I want to give you a supernatural strategy to see everything turn to good in the midst of the global challenges we find ourselves in. It’s this, delight in the Lord,” he said.

A few years ago, he personally experienced a health issue that tested his faith in the Lord. It was at that moment where he really understood what delighting in the Lord meant and how can it affect a situation.

Delight in the Lord

Delighting in the Lord doesn’t mean delighting in your situation or the problem that you are facing. It means to delight in the Lord who can turn any situation around. Robert referenced Psalm 37:4 to emphasize his message.

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” -Psalm 37:4

“That doesn’t mean if we’re good, and we delight in the Lord and we’re good little Christians, He’ll reward us and give us something we don’t have. It means as we delight in the Lord, we are filled with the reminder of who He is and what He’s like. How capable He is in any situation. And we come back into that faith place and everything turns around, He gives us the ability to enjoy what we already have,” Robert explained.
