Hello, everyone. I have something that I believe is going to really encourage you. The Lord wants to encounter you through His Word. For a good chunk of my Christian walk, I had a, what you would call a casual relationship with the Bible. I would read the Bible at church, or sometimes when I was spending time with God, but really I had this hidden belief that the Word was too intimidating and I wouldn’t understand it. I allowed this lie from the enemy to put me into shame, which actually kept me from reading the Word. After going through Bible school, I realized I really actually want to know the Lord through His Word, and I’m not going to let this lie keep me from knowing Him in this way.
So I decided I’m going to read the Bible in a whole year. I found a reading plan and I began to read it every single day through discipline. Some days, there were times I didn’t really want to read it. And other days when I did, but as I consistently read the Word, it began to transform my life and renew my mind. I went from being a shy and insecure person to a confident and secure person, in who I was in Jesus. A teacher that I really love, named Libby Gordon, once said that every single scripture carries an impartation. As you read the Word, whatever verse you are reading, it actually carries the power and the grace to equip you to carry out what the truth is saying.
So, as you read the Bible, say you’re reading about renewing your mind. As you read that verse, it’s going to actually renew your mind. The Word is living and active and it carries power to transform you and your life and your circumstances. So I want to challenge you to start reading your Bible, even if it’s one page a day. Even if it’s one chapter a day, everyone has to start somewhere, even if it’s small, and the Lord delights in your baby steps. So as you begin to read the word, notice how your life changes and is transformed. Also read the Word with the Holy Spirit. As you open your Bible, say, “Holy Spirit, help me to understand the truth that is in this Word, help me to understand what you are saying.” And you will realize that there is a wealth of revelation and wisdom in this Word, and you will never be the same again.
