Your Real Life Is In Christ

I want to read to you today from Colossians 3, “Since you have been raised to a new life with Christ set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits at the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.”

Wow, your real life is the life hidden in Christ. If you’re feeling weary, if you’re feeling weary from all the daily things that you’re doing from your commute to work and back, and maybe the relationships with your family that you have, I just want to remind you, set your eternal perspective and turn it on. Look to the realities of heaven. And from that place, God is going to give you insight. He’s going to fill you with His presence and help you really remember what matters the most. So I just pray right now that your eternal perspective is turned on and turned up, that the people in your life are impacted by the way that you look up to Jesus and not down or around to this world. Amen.

Lecrae’s Powerful Encounter: “Lord I feel like I’m going to kill myself or I’m going to kill somebody…”

Lecrae is one of those people who struggled with self-worth, never having a sense of belongingness. According to CBN, when he was a child, his father abandoned him. His dad chose drugs and friends instead of him. Lecrae didn’t feel he really fitted in until he discovered hip-hop culture on the streets. Influenced by his uncle, he thought that being a man was having tattoos, being in possession of a gun, using drugs and joining a gang.

However, he soon realized there was something missing.

Life Without Jesus

“I knew my ways were unfulfilling; I’d chase power, pleasure and position… I knew it was insanity, I knew I was never going to find any fulfillment, but I didn’t know what it was that I was looking for.”

Lecrae was battling deep within, looking for something in this world that could satisfy him.

Getting to know Jesus

Lecrae attended a conference a friend invited him to and heard about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and it moved him deeply. “ I don’t want to live like this anymore,” he bowed down and said. “Jesus I’m sorry.” He broke down crying.

He eventually turned from drugs but that was replaced by alcohol consumption and a party lifestyle and he became a “misfit of a person.” His life again was spinning out of control, and he knew it. He cried out again to God saying “Lord I feel like I’m going to kill myself or I’m going to kill somebody, please stop me before it gets to that point. Do whatever you have to, but don’t kill me.”

As we see, life with Jesus involves an ever-increasing process of change, and it is not an overnight process but rather a journey towards the goal of living like Him.

Radical Change

Lecrae was driving on a highway when he turned too quickly, and his car went into a roll but he survived with no injury. He convinced him to fully commit his life to Christ.

“I was radically changed, to realize that I had been living a lie, to realize that I was unsatisfied, and I would never be satisfied until I came to Jesus was so revolutionary for me that I wanted everyone to taste it; I wanted everyone to see how awesome God is.”

This is an amazing testimony, indeed God doesn’t give up on people. The Love of Jesus is real and it is there for everyone. Jesus is the Only One who can change a life, bring joy into a broken heart and give hope for the future.

This Rapper Lecrae was called by Jesus. And he answered the call. Will you answer JESUS too?

Life is a great mystery to many. Some people enjoy the gift of family, but some were not even given the chance to experience love from a family. Unfortunately, Kevin belongs in the latter group.

Kevin grew up in a very abusive environment. At such an early age, he had a twisted view of sex and love. The abuse he received from his own family turned him into someone who sought love in all the wrong places.

In spite of all the horrible things he experienced, Kevin remembers one bright spot in his childhood. It was the Kids Sunday Church called ‘Joyland’. He describes it as one of the safest places he felt in his entire life. It left a deep, lasting impression on him, but the wounds from the abuse he received took over his life.

He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, multiple personality disorder and major depression. These mental issues led him to gender confusion and he became a transgender. Kevin’s unpleasant involvement pushed him into prostitution. He was driven by money, power and validation as he was equating sex with love. He was making good money and got off the streets for awhile. However, at the end of the day, he still felt empty.

One day, he decided to go on a spiritual journey and tried different world religions. He became a Muslim for 4 years, tried to cast spells, experimented with Buddhism, Reiki Master, and Feng Shui Master. Not even one of those religions had the real power to change his life. He never got was he was looking for and it only made things worse for him.

Things began to change after he heard the still small voice of the One True God.
