If you feel alone and rejected, you need to hear this powerful message from GOD TV’s “It’s All Greek to Me” with Pastor Chris Demetriou.
Dektos
The Greek word that Pastor Chris expounds in this episode is the word “dektos,” which is translated as “acceptance.” It means “acceptable, favour, regarded favourably, or expressed approval.”
It is man’s nature to want to belong somewhere. Thus, we see different sects or groups people formed to satisfy that sense of belongingness they long to experience. And as believers, the pastor encourages that “you belong” and “you are wholly acceptable.”
Ephesians 1:5 says, “…having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.”
“Jesus achieved something that no one else could achieve,” he remarked. “And that is to bring you and me into His family.”
The verse reveals that through Jesus, we have fully become adopted members of God’s family. But Chris clears out that not in a slave sense of adoption but as sons and daughters of God.
Further, Ephesians 1:6 says, “..to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted (dektos) in the Beloved.”

Rejected And Alone
We all know how painful rejection is that it affects your whole life. So, if you are that someone who still feels rejected and is longing for that sense of belongingness, look unto Jesus.
“Don’t look at man. Don’t look at situations. Look at God,” he said. “Look into God’s word and see that you have been accepted by the Beloved. You are acceptable to God. When He looks at you, He is well-pleased with you and He has predestined you for adoption.”
Therefore, always remember the truth in God’s word that you are God’s beloved child.
