The key to your breakthrough could be found in a shift in your perspective. I was recently going through a season where everything seemed really hard. My circumstances were more so at the forefront of my mind than the goodness of God. And I began to become really hopeless. The Lord showed me a new revelation as I was reading His word. If you’ll open your Bible with me to Luke 22:19, it says, “And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them saying, ‘This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.'”
In the Greek, the word for ‘giving thanks’ is ‘eucharisteo.’ This word has two meanings. The one word in the whole word is ‘charis’, which actually means ‘grace’ or ‘gift.’ And then, and this word is also the Greek word ‘chara,’ which means ‘joy.’ So basically from doing this word study, I realized that as I give thanks for the gifts or the grace that the Lord has given me, I will begin to experience a deep joy. When I started to apply this truth to my life and remembered what Jesus did for me and began to give thanks for the small things in my life, everything began to change. I began to experience joy for the first time, even in a dark season, and the Lord began to light up the small things in my life. And I realized that my season wasn’t as bad as I thought it was. The moment I began to intentionally thank God for my current circumstances, I began to experience a newfound joy.
I want to pray for you if you are in a season of hopelessness or everything just seems hard. I want to encourage you to give thanks for the small things and watch how your perspective radically shifts. Jesus, I just thank you for the person watching this video. And Lord, I ask that you would give them new revelation through the word of God to experience your joy and give them things to be thankful for in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
