An Israeli group organized a Jerusalem marathon called “Run For Zion” to give Christians a chance to run where Jesus walked.
Run For Zion
“Run For Zion” was started in 2017 by Genesis 123 Foundation for two great missions. The primary mission is to connect Christians with the Jews by giving them a chance to run together on the roads of Jerusalem. Also, to bless the nation where Christianity started 2,000 years ago.
Participants also get a chance to see more of Israel by meeting Holocaust survivors, experience Shabbat, join Israelis in worship, and go on exclusive Bible tours.
“We’re offering a unique Christian experience,” founder of Genesis 123 Foundation, Jonathan Feldstein, said. “It’s a pilgrimage and service experience, so people see and come to interact with the land and the people, and experience and volunteer with the projects that we’re funding.”

Jonathan is an Orthodox Jew from Efrat who founded the US-based non-profit Genesis 123 Foundation. The foundation has a passion to connect “Jews and Christians with Israel in ways that are unique while blessing Israel.”
Elizabeth Wong, a participant of “Run For Zion” 2019 who also plans to run again next year, shared her experience.
“As a Christian runner, there is no more spiritually meaningful place to run,” Elizabeth said.
“My favorite part was running in the Old City and coming out of the Zion Gate, seeing the Mount of Olives,” she added. “Usually tourists and vendors crowd through the ancient stone paths. But for Jerusalem Marathon, I could run through the historic roads unhindered. And see amazing views while hearing the crowd cheer us on.”
Elizabeth described “Run For Zion” as a pilgrimage that builds camaraderie and community between the Jews and Christians for Israel.
