After the passing of conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, country singer John Rich revealed the outspoken Christian’s anonymous act of kindness to support a hospital.

Rush’s passing brought many hateful comments from his dissenters. But those who truly knew and cherished him revealed all the good things he did in his life.

On Wednesday, country singer John Rich revealed that Rush once donated $100,000 to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Rush agreed, but on one condition: “that he remained anonymous.”

John wrote on Twitter, “When I was on Celebrity Apprentice, Rush Limbaugh made a donation of $100,000 dollars to St Jude Children’s Hospital to support them, and my mission on the TV Show under the condition that he remained anonymous. I never said a word until now. He will be missed.”

Raising Money In Celebrity Apprentice

During that time, John recalled to Fox News that his goal in “Celebrity Apprentice” was to “raise as much money” so they could donate it to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.

“My goal,” he said, “was to try to raise above a million dollars, which had never been done on that show.”

Thus, John turned to Rush. “When I asked Rush Limbaugh about that,” the singer recounted, “he said, ‘I would love to make a donation, but it has to be anonymous. Don’t tell anybody it came from me. Don’t tell [host] Donald Trump it came from me, don’t talk about it in any way, shape, or form.'”

And as a result, John ended up raising “a total of $1.4 million during the show’s 11th season.”

Generous Tips In Restaurants

Moreover, Rush is also known to give generous tips to restaurant servers. To mention one, he gave Merritt Tierce, a former server at Nick & Sam’s in Dallas, $2,000 tips twice.

Rush Limbaugh was no doubt a controversial figure. However, he was also very outspoken with his Christian faith. In the last several months of his life, he boldly and consistently pointed to his relationship with Jesus.

Till his last breath, he clung to Jesus, who gave him “immense value, strength, and confidence.”

“That’s why I’m able to remain fully committed to the idea that what is supposed to happen will happen when it’s meant to,” he said back then, while describing the prayers and support of his listeners as “a series of blessings.”

Till his last breath in battling lung cancer, the conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh points people to his personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Battling Advanced Lung Cancer

In February last year, Rush revealed that he was diagnosed with “advanced lung cancer,” highlighting that he’s totally relying on God with his condition. We remember how the 69-year-old shed light on the importance of his deep faith in God in such a difficult time.

Then in October 2020, Rush once again opened up about his battle with cancer. At that time, he said he finds his strength and confidence in his relationship with Jesus. And despite his situation, he’s still grateful to God for everything.

“I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ,” he said. “It is of immense value, strength, confidence. That’s why I’m able to remain fully committed to the idea that what is supposed to happen will happen when it’s meant to.”

Today, the news broke that the conservative talk radio pioneer who had influenced a generation of American politics finally went home to be with the Lord. He succumbed to the advanced lung cancer he was battling at the age of 70.

Till his last breath, Rush showed his great faith, pointing to his personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Radio show host Rush Limbaugh opened up about his battle with lung cancer and stressed it is his relationship with Jesus that gives him strength and confidence to face each day.

On Monday, the conservative talk radio icon said, “I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.” Then he went on to reveal that he is finding comfort in Him. He said, “It is of immense value, strength, confidence. That’s why I’m able to remain fully committed to the idea that what is supposed to happen will happen when it’s meant to.”

Rush also thanked those who have supported him through prayer, calling it “a series of blessings.”

Battling Stage 4 Lung Cancer

In February of this year, the 69-year-old publicly revealed that he had been diagnosed with “advanced lung cancer.” But before that, he assumed he had only asthma or possibly a heart problem because he had “zero symptoms.”

Today, the radio personality updates that there is “some progression of cancer.”

“The scans did show some progression of cancer,” he explained. “Prior to that, the scans had shown that we had rendered cancer dormant — that’s my phrase for it. We had stopped the growth. It had been reduced, and it had become manageable. But it’s always the reality, and the knowledge that, that can change. And it can come back because it is cancer. It outsmarts pretty much everything you throw at it. And this, of course, this is stage 4 lung cancer.”

Rush’s Sentiments

Moreover, Rush also shared his thoughts on his health. Feeling emotional, he said, “It’s tough to realize that the days where I do not think I’m under a death sentence are over.”

“We all know we’re going to die at some point,” he continued. “When you have a terminal disease diagnosis that has a time frame to it, then that puts a different psychological and even physical awareness to it.”

Conservative Radio Talk host Rush Limbaugh said that prayer works as he gives an update on his battle against cancer.

In January of this year, Rush Limbaugh was diagnosed with advanced-stage lung cancer. He is still currently fighting for his life against cancer and has already undergone a series of treatments. Recently, he updated his listeners on his cancer battle saying that prayers work.

Rush used a baseball analogy to describe how his treatments went for the past months.

“My first two at-bats were horrible. My first two at-bats struck out. Nothing to show for it.” Rush explained that though his first round of treatment was effective, it “nearly killed me in the process.” Adding that the second round was a total fail.

Hope

However, his third treatment shed some light and hope for the radio personality.

“I hit a solid single and managed to steal second. I am currently on second base hoping to slide into third and eventually make it all the way home.”

Prayer Works

Rush said that he felt better this time than how he felt with the previous treatments he had. He expected to feel terrible for a couple of days but he actually had several good days. He also said that the progress with his recent treatments is a blessing and that he believes prayer works.

“I believe prayer works,” he emphasized.

Despite knowing that cancer treatments can change from day to day, he is optimistic about his condition. He places his hope for the future in the hands of God and trusting him in the process.

“I’m feeling extremely good right now, even cautious about saying that. Who knows what tomorrow’s going to bring?”

Radio show host Rush Limbaugh opened up on Tuesday about his health’s current status as he battles advanced lung cancer saying that the first thing he does upon waking up in the morning is to “thank God.”

Battling Advanced Lung Cancer

Rush updated about his condition to his listeners, admitting his real circumstance. He said, “These are extremely challenging times for me medically. Nothing that millions of you haven’t gone through or aren’t going through.”

Then he continued, “And those of you who have or those of you who are going through it, you understand it. And so it’s… The temptation here is to start divulging a lot of stuff, and I’m not gonna do that, because I vowed not to be a cancer patient on the radio. I vowed to shield as much of that from the daily program as I can. I guess… I’m in the third wave of treatment now.”

A Tough Battle For Rush Limbaugh

The Rush Limbaugh Show host admitted that his third wave treatment has been tough.

“For the last seven days, I have been virtually worthless, virtually useless. I haven’t left the house. I haven’t done much of anything except just try to rest and relax. All of this was told to me; it was gonna be a factor,” he said.

Grateful To God

Moreover, Rush stressed out how he’s grateful to God every day for another chance at life whenever he wakes up in the morning.

He said, “You know, every day… Every day I wake up and the first thing I do is thank God that I did. It is… Just waking up is a blessing. I know many of you are praying daily and nightly. I happen to believe that they work. I believe that they are sustaining me, and I pray for the energy to be able to do this. But I have to be… Folks, I have to be honest.”

His Limitations On The Show

Also, the 69-year-old acknowledged how much his show takes out of him. Realizing that he never knew until he got sick.

“I didn’t realize until I got sick… I honestly didn’t. You’re gonna think this is strange. I didn’t realize how much physical and mental energy doing these three hours — the way I do them, with no guests — and, you know, I don’t do anything to give myself a break during the three hours to take, not even that many phone calls on a normal basis,” he said.

He added, “My heart rate skyrockets during these three hours. My caloric burn is the highest of the day during these three hours, and the mental aspect of it — which, to me, another name for it is performance pressure.”

Rush revealed, “I’m aware of my energy limitations, and it’s why I said last Thursday that at any moment we may need to start rolling a best-of show here or guest hosts (which are standing by).”

Rush Limbaugh Calling His Wife ‘A Blessing’

Furthermore, the radio host especially commended his wife Kathryn. He regarded her as a great blessing in the midst of what he’s going through right now.

“I could not be doing this without Kathryn. I have never experienced anybody so selfless. I marvel at her selflessness.. But the things that she is doing to ease me through this and to make it as less arduous for me that it can be, I’m blessed,” described Rush.

At the end, Rush Limbaugh concluded, “If I wake up and realize I’m still alive and thank God for it, the next thing is, ‘Okay, can I go to work today?’ If I can, I need to get as many in as possible, because this is one of my primary loves in life — and you in the audience are the reason that this love of my life has been so extraordinarily happy and successful. It would not have happened without you.”

Rush disclosed that “two medical institutions” confirmed his lung cancer diagnosis on Jan 20. He also shared that it was on his birthday, Jan. 12, when he first experienced sudden shortness of breath. He knew then that there was something wrong with his health. But he assumed it was only asthma or possibly a heart problem.

“My heart’s in great shape, ticking away fine, squeezing and pumping great. It was not that. It was a pulmonary problem involving malignancy,” he said. “So I’m gonna be gone the next couple days as we figure out the treatment course of action and have further testing done. But, as I said, I’m gonna be here as often as I can.”

“It is a family-type relationship to me, and I’ve mentioned to you that this program and this job is what has provided me the greatest satisfaction and happiness that I’ve ever experienced, more than I ever thought that I would experience,” the conservative radio host said. “[Over] the years, a lot of people have been very nice telling me how much this program has meant to them. But whatever that is, it pales in comparison to what you all have meant to me.”

Then he added that he has a “great bunch of doctors, a great team assembled.”

“We’re at full-speed ahead on this, and it’s just now a matter of implementing what we are gonna be told later this week,” Rush said. “So, I’ll be back here. I hope I’ll be back Thursday. If not, it will be as soon as I can – and know that every day I’m not here, I’ll be thinking about you and missing you.”
