Sadie Robertson asked her audience to open their phone flashlight and then open their phone camera to talk about our identity.

During the Passion Conference earlier this year, Sadie Robertson took the stage to talk about the light of Jesus in us. In her talk, she asked the participants to turn the lights on their cameras. The dark room suddenly was filled with hundreds of lights from the audience.
“Now just keep your lights on for a minute, everybody look around. This is beautiful, this is what it looks like to burn again for Jesus. This is a representation of our spiritual lives, this is what it looks like to be the light of the world. We’re in a dark room but our eyes are gravitated towards the light.”

After some time, she then asked them to turn on the camera on their phones. As they did so, one by one, the lights from their phones disappeared. Our smartphones by design could not turn the lights on and the camera on at the same time. Sadie then explained that we are designed by God in the same way. We could not keep our lights on if we were focused on something else.
“The iPhone by design, you cannot be shining the light and looking at the camera at the same time. For some reason by design, you cannot be shining the light and looking at yourself. For some reason, you cannot be trying to get the glory and give the glory.”
You are designed to be the light of the world and no matter where you are, you are to keep your light burning for everyone else to see. Instead of focusing on yourselves and on everyone around you, focus on the Lord and His purpose for you. Always remember that you are called to be His light in this dark world.
