Young Fisherman Lost At Sea For 4 Hours Survives After Family Miraculously Rescued Him

A young spear fisherman from Key West, Florida who was lost at sea for four hours survived the terrifying ordeal after his family miraculously spotted him in the dark and rescued him.

The 22-year-old Dylan Gartenmeyer was drift diving with his friends when he suddenly found himself lost at sea. As he was diving, the Gulf Stream pulled him away from their boat and from the coast. The Coast Guard and some rescue teams came to the scene to search through the sea for Dylan. However, after hours of looking for him, they weren’t able to find him.

After receiving the terrifying news, his family wasted no time and acted quickly to save Dylan. They immediately got on their grandfather’s boat and went to his last known coordinates.

“Got a horrible phone call yesterday that Dyl had gone diving and hadn’t been seen for two hours! After calling the fam together we hopped on the contender and had the scariest boat ride of our life out to his last known coordinates. God was definitely on our side because as soon as we stopped running out and started looking, we spotted him right away at almost the exact coordinates we were given,” Priscilla Gartenmayer, Dylan’s cousin, wrote in a Facebook post on Friday.

Miraculous Rescue

Miraculously, after four hours of being lost in the dark sea, they were able to rescue Dylan. His family knew it was God who led him to where he is, they knew that they have just witnessed a miracle.

“It definitely had to be a miracle. It had to be God protecting him the whole time, our angels above,” Tabby, Dylan’s mother said in an interview with Today.

The emotional and miraculous rescue was caught on camera. In the video, Dylan’s family was seen rejoicing as they spotted where he was.

Man trapped at a sea for 16 hours clung to a “sea rubbish” to survive while waiting for rescue.

Vidam Perevertilov was wrapping up his night shift on a cargo ship when the ordeal happened. At around 4 am on February 16, the 52-year-old sailor recalled feeling “hot and dizzy” so he went out onto the deck to get some air. What happened next was a blur for him.

It turned out that he fell overboard the Silver Supporter, which is on its usual route to deliver supplies to the Pitcairn Islands. The ship’s chief engineer fainted before falling into cold waters. When he regained his consciousness, he’s on the dark waters of the Pacific Ocean without a life jacket or anything to keep him afloat.

Rescue

It took Vidam’s crewmates at least six hours before they noticed that he was missing. Upon learning that the crew member was missing, they turned the ship around and alerted the French Navy aircraft for aid. Thankfully, they were able to rescue Vidam after 16 long hours since he fell from the ship.

Vidam was tired and dehydrated and his skin was burning from the sun’s heat when the Silver Supporter found him. Upon seeing the ship, he waved his arm and yelled for help. A passenger onboard heard his faint cry for help.

“It was incredible someone heard a voice,” Marat said. The rescue operation, he added, was almost “inexplicable.”

Sea Rubbish

According to Vidam’s son, his father was able to survive the ordeal thanks to a black object floating on the horizon. Despite being tired, he managed to gather enough energy to swim several kilometers to that floating object. The “sea rubbish” helped him stay afloat for the remaining hours until rescue arrived.

“It was not anchored to anything or a boat; it was just a piece of sea rubbish,” Perevertilov’s son said of the floating item that saved his father’s life.
