My son is in bed and the house is quiet. Ahhh…I started thinking about one of my favorite coaches, John Wooden. He was a UCLA basketball coach for years and won 10 national championships. The first drill he would start incoming freshmen on was how to tie their shoes… crazy right?! For Wooden the main purpose of this drill was for them to understand the importance of doing small things with excellence. Because he knew if they could grasp that concept it would carry over into everything else they did.
In a world filled with marketing gimmicks… oh man we have seen some of the worst… it can be so easy to believe BIG success can be achieved quickly. It can’t.
Every successful client we’ve worked with has put in the work and they KEEP putting in work. Sports and business are so similar. You can’t show up to the big game talking a bunch of trash and win…if you haven’t put in the work. The same is true in business. If we want to build something, which we all do, then we have to put in the work. Which you’re doing.
So I write this to you to encourage you to keep going. Keep doing the small tasks with excellence. The small design edit, the post caption, the email copy, the article post, the Java script, the live video… with excellence. Because if we keep showing up, putting in the work, and blessing our community it’s going to be truly incredible what we’ll be able to accomplish.
“And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here I have made five talents more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’” Matthew 25:20-21
Praying for each one of you to grow in your gifts…to not be afraid to challenge yourself…to not settle for average…and to expand your belief of what’s possible.
