It’s important to know when.
“My Beloved speaks and says to me: Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away, for behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The Flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land” Song of Solomon 2:10-12
It’s important to know which one you’re currently in. It’s also important to realize that regardless of which season you’re in, Jesus is right there with you.
I was sitting in on Sunday Service one morning when I heard these wise words, “If you want a new season, try singing a new song.” It wasn’t until I heard these words that I was reminded of how much weight and power is on the words that we sing unto the Lord.
Did you know that there are anointed songs for appointed seasons? This idea blew my mind because I realized that some songs had more meaning and carried more weight depending on my current season with The Lord. Whether it be a season to mourn, or a season to celebrate like it says in Ecclesiastes 3:4, There’s a special offering you’re able to give to God in worship depending on your current season.
Posture Your Heart
Oftentimes, we ask God to give us something new to step into, without first posturing our hearts to offer up something different. In other words, we want a new season but we’re not willing to actually sing a new song. Don’t get me wrong, God appoints us seasons for certain times but sometimes, we get so caught up in the comfort of our day to day routines that we’re not willing to try something different and then wonder why we feel so stuck in our current seasons with God. I believe when we press into a new season with God, even if it’s uncomfortable, there’s a beautiful harvest to reap in your future seasons to come.
I encourage you today, that if you’ve felt stuck in this season that you’re in, you have full permission to start singing a new song. You are fully capable of trying something different. Whether that’s in worship on Sunday, in your car on your way to work, or even in your secret place with The Lord.
As sons and daughters, worship is not only an offering, but is also an invitation to break down barriers and open new realms of God’s will and grace for our lives!
