‘Miracle Baby’ Rescued From Collapsed Building Following Deadly Earthquake In Syria

A “miracle baby” has given hope to people in Syria after a deadly earthquake hit the country and killed thousands of people.

Tragic news hit the world as magnitudes 7.8 and 7.5 earthquakes shook Syria and Turkey and claimed lives as buildings collapsed one after another. As of writing, news media have confirmed at least 17,000 dead. And authorities fear that its number will likely rise with ongoing search and rescue.

And in one of the fallen buildings in Jinderis, Syria, a newborn baby was found with its umbilical cord still attached. Residents did not expect to see the baby after digging through the rubble.

Khalil al-Suwadi, the baby’s relative, told AFP how they rescued the infant. “We heard a voice while we were digging,” he said. “We cleared the dust and found the baby with the umbilical cord [intact], so we cut it, and my cousin took her to hospital.”

Dr. Hani Maarouf said that if the baby had been found an hour later, she would probably not survive. “Had the girl been left for an hour more, she would have died.”

Prayers for Turkey and Syria

CNN reports that the baby’s family attempted to escape their apartment building but failed. She apparently had four other siblings, but sadly, they did not make it. Together with their parents, they were found near the building’s entrance.

Meanwhile, the baby was found between her mother’s legs. Dr. Maarouf believed that the mother, Abu Hadiya, gave birth while buried under the rubble but died soon after. If the baby had been born before the earthquake, she would not likely survive the hours in the cold.

The miracle baby acquired a big bruise on her back and had to undergo further assessments for spinal cord injuries. But she is now in a stable condition and getting treatments correctly.

Pray for Turkey and Syria during one of its difficult times.

Soccer Star Christian Atsu Found Alive Under Rubble Following Deadly Turkey Earthquake

Soccer star Christian Atsu was found alive under apartment rubble that was struck down by the deadly earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria.

Deadly Earthquake

On Monday morning, a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked Turkey and Syria followed by another 7.7 magnitude quake in the early afternoon. The epicenter was believed to be near the Turkish city of Gaziantep. Thousands of buildings and apartment complexes have been completely destroyed by the quakes. Over 5,000 people have now been reported dead.

Search and rescue attempts are still ongoing to look for thousands of missing individuals. Most of them are believed to be under the rubble now. Among those who have been reported missing on Monday morning was the Ghana soccer star Christian Atsu. He was reported to be trapped under the rubble of his apartment building in Hatayspor, 90 miles from the epicenter of the quake.

Christian is a Ghanaian professional footballer who is currently playing for the Turkish team Hatayspor and the Ghana national team. On Sunday night, he successfully led the Hatayspor to a 1-0 victory against Kasimpasa. However, just hours later, the terrible news of the earthquake broke out.

Thankfully, after 26 hours of the rescue mission, Christian was found alive under the rubble. Reports say that he has suffered injuries on his foot and was having difficulty in breathing. The soccer star was immediately brought to the hospital for medical care. Christian’s management recently confirmed that the winger is now far from danger.

Christian Atsu is a man of faith and an active member of Hillsong church in Newcastle. He has always been publicly vocal about his religious belief and he uses the platform that he has to introduce who Jesus Christ is to everyone. In an interview in 2018, Christian shared that it was God’s grace that brought him this far into his career.

“God’s power has to be manifested in my life for people to see how far he has brought me. The Bible says it is not our hard work, by what we do, that makes us reach the level that we are now. For example, like me – it is not just by my hard work, though I am working hard, it is the will of God, the grace of God, that has brought me this far.”

Call To Prayer

Prayers are being rallied right now for Christian Atsu’s recovery and thousands of others who have been affected. Let us pray that those who are still missing will be found alive. Let us pray for comfort for those who have lost their loved ones. And, let us pray for protection for the rescuers who are risking their lives to save others right at this moment.

A magnitude of 7.8 earthquake hit Syria and Turkey, annihilating infrastructures and taking the lives of many. Both countries urgently need our prayers.

Massive Earthquake Hit Turkey And Syria

On early Monday, a massive earthquake struck Turkey and Syria. According to CNN, as of Feb. 7, “4,372 people have been killed” and “15,834 injured.”

In a post shared by Apostle Happy Herbs Hlwempu, he revealed Turkey’s chaotic state. He shared photos of flattened buildings and many infrastructures that were reduced to rubble. Pictures of people and children crying were also captured in the aftermath of the massive shaking.

Call To Prayer

Syria and Turkey badly need our prayers.  Below are prayer points for you to pray:

1. Pray for God for rescue to those who are still trapped in the rubble.

Although thousands have already been confirmed to have passed away and some injured, many are still missing. Pray that a miraculous help would come their way.

2. Pray for emotional healing and provision for the survivors.

Although they survived the massive earthquake, the survivors need to heal from the traumas they’ve experienced. More so, if they have lost loved ones who did not survive the ordeal. Pray for the healing of their hearts and for provision to come their way as they recover from the tragedy.

3. Pray for Christians to reach out and help those affected by the earthquake.

Pray that believers of Christ will reach out and help the victims in Syria and Turkey out of love. That they will share the love of Christ in this trying times.

4. Pray for God’s peace and wisdom for the government leaders of both countries.

Pray that God would give wisdom to the government leaders of Turkey and Syria for how to move forward and for the welfare of the people coming out from such a tragic event.

Israel Military Declares It Has Wiped Out 90% of Iran’s Presence in Syria

According to a spokesman with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Israel’s long-standing campaign to drive Iran out of Syria is almost complete. For years, Iran has been building up its proxy—Hezbollah—at Israel’s northern border, and the IDF has worked tirelessly and mostly covertly to drive back the Islamic regime’s encroaching presence in the region.

The IDF said it has wiped out Iran’s ability to get weapons into the hands of Hezbollah. It has also destroyed Iran’s weapons-making capabilities in Syria and its ability to build bases there. And Israel has blocked Iran’s ability to bring in any weapons or reinforcements by way of the Mediterranean Sea or over any land routes.

The Israeli Air Force has had great success blowing up armaments intended for Hezbollah, effectively crippling their operations in Syria.

This week, Israel allegedly conducted a daytime strike—a rarity—on Damascus, where one Syrian soldier was injured. Israel is known for taking great pains to get the best intelligence possible to minimize loss of life (for Israel or the enemy) and maximize the destruction of the target. Last week, there was a strike near the Damascus airport. Typically, Israel neither confirms nor denies these military engagements.

“The Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression with rockets from the north of the occupied Palestinian territories, targeting some points in the vicinity of the city of Damascus,” reported the Syrian Arab News Agency.

One key player in Israel’s clean-up of Iran’s presence in Syria is Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin has close ties with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and Putin basically controls the air over the country. Political tensions over Israel’s assistance to Ukraine have strained Russian-Israeli relations, but Israel has apparently still had clearance to fly missions over Damascus and the region. And supposedly, al-Assad has also wanted Iran and Hezbollah out of his country, especially on the Golan and southern Syria.

Israel officials say the new concern is whether Hezbollah has been equipped and armed with Iranian drones like the ones Russia is using in Ukraine.

While we try to live in peace with our Arab neighbors, Israel has to remain ever vigilant—many want to see our destruction, but as believers in Messiah Yeshua, we know that God is on our side and has plans for Israel still! We are grateful for the technology of the Iron Dome and other defense systems, as well as our brave young men and women in the IDF…but our ultimate hope is always in God.

New Report Shows Israel Bombed Suspected Syrian Chemical Weapons Sites In 2020 And 2021

Twice in the last 18 months, Israel dealt a disabling blow to Syrian President Bashar Assad’s plans to rebuild his illegal chemical weapon program, strategically carrying out strikes in March 2020 and June 2021, according to a report in The Washington Post on Monday.

According to information shared by Western intelligence officials, this past summer, Israeli jets targeted three sites near Damascus and Homs and killed seven Syrian soldiers and an engineer who was allegedly working for the military at a lab. In the 2020 strike, a villa outside of Homs (the center of Syria’s previous chemical weapons program) was targeted. Supposedly, TCP (tricalcium phosphate) was being manufactured there. While TCP has many uses, it is also a precursor to sarin and other deadly nerve agents.

While the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) declined to comment, Western intelligence officials reportedly took notice of the strikes because they were not Iran-proxy targets, like most of the hundreds of missions the IDF has flown over the last several years.

Assad had allegedly agreed to dismantle his chemical weapons program in 2014 after then-US President Barack Obama threatened to conduct a military strike on Syria if the program was not shut down. In August 2013, 1,400 men, women, and children were killed in the suburbs of Damascus. The UN said chemical weapons were used in the attack; Syria denied it.

Even after the initial international and US pressure, Assad continued to utilize chemical weapons—in as many as 200 attacks against rebel forces fighting against the dictatorial Assad regime. And there have been threats to use the deadly chemicals against Israel.

The Post reported that prior to the 2020 strike, Israel received intelligence that Assad was preparing to rebuild his arsenal. Disabling the building-block components of the program seemed a safer way to go, rather than striking a stockpile of already manufactured chemical weapons which would potentially harm the nearby population.

While Israel is in close proximity to Damascus (think about the travels of the Apostle Paul from Jerusalem to Damascus…), this also shows how Israelis value LIFE…not wanting even their enemies to accidentally suffer from the horrendous effects of nerve gas or whatever else Asad was trying to cook up.

Netanyahu: ‘If War is Forced On Us – We Will Win a Very Decisive Victory’

Prime Minister and Defense Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi and GOC Air Force Maj.-Gen. Amikam Norkin held a tour of the Palmachim Air Force base on Sunday during which Netanyahu said Israel would win a “decisive victory” on the battlefield if faced with war.

Netanyahu and the military commanders received security briefings on the IAF’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) squadron and spoke with the commanders of the units at the base.

Israel has reportedly carried out extensive strikes against Iranian and other hostile targets at distant points in the Middle East, including in Iraq and northern Syria. The UAV squadron, which deploys aircraft of various sizes, is reportedly a key player in these strikes.

Netanyahu lauded “our best men and women who operate UAVs day and night to confront our enemies – Iran and its proxies in a very broad area. The achievements are very impressive, and the developments are on the way.”

Responding to a journalist’s question, Netanyahu stated that “if war is forced on us – we will win a very decisive victory. What I saw here today at this air force base, the best personnel, and the best developments and weaponry will ensure that this will be the case.”

“This is truly the vanguard. We are in a major campaign and you have a central part. I would like to thank you on behalf of all Israeli citizens,” he told the IAF personnel.

Following the tour, Palmachim Air Force Base commanders and soldiers surprised Netanyahu with a party in honor of his 70th birthday.

Trump Signs Proclamation Recognizing Israeli Sovereignity Over Golan

The Golan Heights has long been a disputed area since Israel captured it from Syria in the 1967 war and annexed it in 1981 in a move not  internationally recognized. For years it has been the topic of debate in the so-called “Land For Peace” negotiations between Israel and its Arab partners with Israel maintaining that the area is crucial to its security. This is now more evident than ever before, as Iran is trying to establish bases in Syria to attack Israel.

However,  the Trump administration has now officially recognised Israeli sovereignity over the territory and the President has made clear warnings about Iranian aggression.  Today’s presidential proclamation follows USA’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish State last year and the US embassy’s subsequent move to Jerusalem. “The unbreakable alliance between the USA and Israel has never been stronger,” says President Trump. “We have defeated the Caliphate in Syria; withdrawn from the Iran Nuclear Deal and imposed the toughest sanctions against the Iranian Regime.

“We will not avert our eyes from the dictatorship that chants ‘Death to America, death to Israel’ and calls for genocide against the Jewish people. We will confront the poison of Anti-Semitism through both our words and more importantly our actions.”

A Historic Day and a Two-fold Act of Justice

“This is truly a historic day,” Prime Minister Netanyahu said. “For two decades (1948-1967) Syria rained deadly fire from the Golan Heights on Israeli citizens below. A generation of Israeli children lived in constant danger. Israel seized the high ground which has proven to be invaluable to our defence especially in 1973 when Syria attacked Israel. While Israel won these two wars we would have to wait half a century until this moment to translate our military victory to  a diplomatic victory.”

The Prime Minister said that the President’s proclamation was “a two-fold act of justice.” This is because Israel has won the war of self defence and the roots of the Jewish People in the Golan Heights go back thousands of years.

He also acknowledged that in the long history of the Jewish people there have been a number of proclamations from gentile leaders that have made a major impact, from King Cyrus the Great to Lord Balfour to US President Truman and now Donald J Trump – not once but twice.

Netanyahu: We Have No Interest In Sparking Palestinian Fronts, Unless There Is No Choice

Israel has no interest in sparking any conflicts with the Palestinians while it deals with threats in the North, but would not hesitate to do so should it be left with no choice, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the weekly Cabinet meeting in Jerusalem, Sunday.

Netanyahu told ministers. “We have been working to neutralize precision rockets in Lebanon, as well as Hezbollah tunnels, and we are successfully promoting sanctions against Hezbollah and Iran, so we have no interest in the Palestinian fronts at this time, unless there is no choice.”

Netanyahu also said that as “Operation Northern Shield continues, IDF soldiers are constantly working with determination, systematically, and in all types of weather to expose and neutralize Hezbollah tunnels.

“We need patience, but with the same persistence, we will continue operation until we neutralize the threat of tunnels North,” the prime minister said.

Netanyahu added that Israel is “pushing Iran out of Syria with great success and we have not finished it yet. At the same time we are working on the diplomatic front to denounce Hezbollah and Iran and increase sanctions against both.”

The prime minister said he had spoken on Saturday with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the Iranian threat.

“I told President Putin that we are continuing our policy: We will not allow Iran to build military operation in Syria, we will continue to act against precision weapons in Lebanon and complete the tunnel threat prevention,” he said, adding that the two countries are coordinating that IDF and Russian military experts meet in the coming days, and that he and Putin hope to meet soon.

Netanyahu: Israel Continues To Engage In Military Operations In Syria

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed to the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee on Monday morning that “Israel has engaged in military operations in Syria since the downing of the Russian plane.

According to Channel 10 Senior Diplomatic Reporter Barak Ravid, Netanyahu told the committee that Israel’s “intelligence planes are gathering information and I don’t want to talk about other operations in this setting.

“Our intelligence tells us that the amount of Iranian arms smuggling through Syria to Hezbollah in Lebanon has substantially decreased since the downing of the Russian plane,” he said.

In the capacity of Defense Minister, Netanyahu made it clear that “we still have good relations with Russia.

“My conversation with Putin in Paris was excellent,” he continued, “I proposed enhancing de-confliction talks between the IDF and the Russian army.”

Earlier in the meeting , Netanyahu said that on Sunday he had officially entered the position of defense minister.

“I met with Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot and with the appointed Chief of Staff, Aviv Kochavi. We are preparing for all challenges… As I said last night, we are in a battle that has not yet ended.”
He said the current period of security was “sensitive” but that he trusts the IDF, the security forces, and the citizens of Israel.

“Together we can meet any challenge – and we will ensure the security of Israel,” he concluded.

In Paris, Netanyahu Defends Cash For Gaza Deal, Says ‘No Diplomatic Solution’

In their first meeting since the downing of a Russian jet during an Israeli airstrike in Syria, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and President Vladimir Putin met briefly on the sidelines of Sunday’s World War I Centenary ceremony in Paris.

Addressing a press conference, Netanyahu said that “the conversation with President Putin was good and businesslike. I would even describe it as very important,” adding that he also met with US President Donald Trump.

He would not give any further details on either conversation, but did choose to address the reasons why Israel complied with Hamas’s demand and delivered the $15 million for Qatar.

“This was the right decision,” he said. “We did it to avoid a humanitarian collapse in Gaza and to avoid unnecessary war. We don’t want a war. I do everything that I can to avoid unnecessary war – I am not afraid of war if it is necessary, but I want to prevent it when it is not necessary.”

He said that Israel had recently been “one step away from using maximum force in Gaza, and Hamas understood this,” and backed down.

Netanyahu highlighted that “there is no diplomatic solution to Gaza, just as there is no political solution to the issue of ISIS.

“I never prevented the entry of food, fuel to Gaza. We try to differentiate between the population and its government. It is difficult, but we are trying to prevent a humanitarian collapse,” he said.

Asked about what the solution could be from a political point of view, Netanyahu said that Hamas was not about to accept or recognize the Jewish state.

“If they did, there would be many solutions and possibilities… If an enemy wants to destroy you, what is there to talk about? Do you talk about how they’re going to annihilate you? You can’t have a political solution. We do the minimum that’s necessary to keep things quiet,” he said.

“Right now we have a period of [relative] quiet and I will do anything and everything I can to keep it going.”

Discussing Europe’s relationship with Israel, he said that while sitting at the table with heads of European states, he made it clear how important it is for them to connect and have good ties with Israel.
“I do not hide my dissatisfaction with the fact that the European Union attacks and criticizes Israel, which is a real barrier against the spread of radical Islam, Sunni or Shiite, in Europe,” the prime minister said.
