Can’t Travel, But Want To Do Missions In Israel?

For the first time in history, a Messianic Gospel television channel is set to broadcast. It will reach Jewish and Arab viewers in Israel, in Hebrew. Shelanu TV launches on Israel’s largest cable television network, HOT Cable, in March 2020, will be available in some 600,000 Israeli homes with programming in Hebrew and English with Hebrew subtitles.

Shelanu means ‘Ours’ in Hebrew and the new channel aims to help Israeli viewers understand that Jesus is not a foreigner or imposter. Rather, He is Yeshua, the Messiah, born in Bethlehem. This is a ground-breaking initiative. The Gospel will be broadcast all across Israel in the revived language of the ancient Jewish prophets.

What Is Shelanu TV

shelanuShelanu TV has signed a seven-year contract with HOT Cable, the largest cable network in Israel reaching both Jews and Arabs. It will present new and original programming from local congregations on the ground in Israel. Additionally, international Messianic voices will share powerful real-life testimonies of Israelis who have come to know Yeshua as Messiah.

The channel, which won’t carry fundraising, is being financed by Christians across the globe who want to empower Messianic congregations. “We are inviting Christians worldwide to be part of this historic and unprecedented media opportunity,” said GOD TV CEO, Ward Simpson. Creating Unity

Speaking on Israel Breaking News, Asher Intrater of Revive Israel Ministries described the unity of local congregations in their support of Shelanu TV. “As Messianic believers in the Land, we want to see all Israel saved. The media is one of the most powerful methods to achieve this. We’ve tried for years to make this happen. Now that a major media platform has opened to us, this is a special opportunity to reach our people”.

Avi Mizrachi of Adonai Roi Congregation spoke of the opposition Messianic believers face. “Israel is a democratic country, where we have freedom of speech, however, there are those who try and stop us. We have had threats, but we are Israelis. We love our country, speak Hebrew and are here to stay until Yeshua returns”.

Asher Intrater says Israeli viewers are open to the Gospel when they discover the genealogy of Jesus. “When they realise Yeshua is one of us, that He is a native Israeli, all of a sudden the opposition goes away. Shelanu is not an import coming from outside. It’s us speaking from the inside, sharing to our people, heart to heart.”

Ron Cantor, who is a local pastor in Tel Aviv and GOD TV’s Regional Director for Israel, says Shelanu TV is a game-changer in Jewish and Arab outreach. “I have lived in Israel for 17 years, and our Shelanu launch dinner was one of the most powerful events I can remember. Religious Channels: A Lifeline for the Hopeless

Television has the power to shift culture and transform society today. So how do we take advantage of one of the greatest opportunities to influence the world and spread the Gospel? Religious channels. We get the opportunity as Christians to spread the hope of the Word for the believer and the non-believer through television. Not only from the physical pulpit but outside the four walls and into the world. For some, it could be a lifeline of hope and change their life forever. The TV and its religious channels have the transformational ability to change the way we think about life.

Religious Channels: Television’s Impact

The invention of television dates back to the 1800s and early 1900s with American inventor Philo Farnsworth and Scottish inventor John Logie Baird. It’s only been in the past 100 years that television has become very popular for the everyday American. Today at least one television can be found in just about every home. The TV is the abbreviation for TeleVision which means to cast a vision, to tell a vision. This powerful tool has shaped history and made an impact like no other.  It has both the ability to inform people about what’s happening in the world and to entertain. Entertainment casts vision for what family looks like, what is acceptable in society, and builds emotion inside the hearts of those viewing. We see throughout history how TV has impacted culture.  These subjects include news of social issues like race, class, and gender. Today we see a lot of the same big issues being talked about and in addition issues such as abortion, race, sexual orientation, and immigration.

Christian Religious Channels for the Unbeliever

Even though Christian religious channels keep believers united and encouraged, it’s so much more vital for the attention of the unbeliever! There have been numerous stories about individuals flipping a station and catching a glimpse of a Christian channel. It has brought many individuals to Christ in a hopeless time of their lives and given words for what their hearts truly ached. You never know who will happen to land on a station that is preaching Christ and minister to someone’s spirit, right where they are. We can be a light in the darkness and bring a message of healing to the broken with religious channels.

Religious Channels: Unity to the Body of Christ

Christian religious channels are for believers to stay unified. Even though the message may differ with denominations and beliefs, the goal is to lift up the name of Jesus in all the Earth. This is what we get to celebrate and lean into. As we tune into these channels of hope, we keep one another accountable and encouraged in our faith. Psalm 133:1 shares, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” While it is important to stay true to the word and the interpretation of it, it’s so vital to show the world how we as Christians love one another in the faith. This picture of love is a picture of Christ’s love for the world as well.

The progress of television and Christian TV channels

Ever since the 1960s the world has watched with amazement as the TV experience has progressed from:

  • a black and white, rotary dial, airwaves signal-fed / antenna-captured thing, complete with vacuum tubes, to the
  • cable TV revolution of the mid-1970s, with its analog color TVs (no more vacuum tubes!) and signal coming from a coax cable screwed into the wall,  and now to the
  • fully digital, fully electronic, fiber optically transmitted, Internet-powered world of 2019.

Christian programming used to mean a sporadic Billy Graham crusade, or the Kathryn Kuhlman “I Believe in Miracles” show, or Robert Schuller’s “Hour of Power.”

The advent of cable television and then the Internet have produced an incredible explosion in the growth of Christian TV channels. It is now possible to find programming meeting the needs of just about every spiritual taste you can imagine, in many different languages, and in a wide variety of show formats. Christian TV channels produce such things as:

  • news programs
  • documentaries
  • full-length movies of many genres
  • live talk shows
  • prerecorded preaching and teaching events
  • “how-to” programming
  • church and evangelistic service broadcasts
  • educational offerings for home- and church day-schoolers
  • kids’ cartoons
  • etc.

This example of what the Hope Channel does is a good one. It shows that the church or ministry that wants to get its word out there to reach larger audiences, can do so through an extraordinary array of outlets and devices. The possibilities are endless.

Continuing our perusal of what’s available on a Roku (available on Amazon in various levels of capability, and priced from $30 to $80), we find still more Christian TV channels available to us:

  • The Word Network (the largest African-American network in the world)
  • K-LOVE Radio
  • Amazing Facts TV, the network of Pastor Doug Batchelor
  • PTL Television Network, the ministry of Jim Bakker
  • HisChannel, which is an incredible network in its own right

…and the list goes on and on and on.

Each time you scroll down to refresh the page (“Roku religious channels”), another 24 channel listings appear. 

The impact of Christian TV channels

Jesus commanded us to go and make disciples of all the nations (Matt. 28:16-20). And God promised Moses that as surely as He (God) lives, all the earth will be filled with His glory (Num. 14:21). Since faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Rom. 10:17), it’s vital that the Word of God be preached and taught to ever-widening circles of people who either do not have access to the word of God at all, or who are in places where the preaching and teaching of the Bible is sparse, if not absent altogether. Christian TV channels help get all of this done.

There’s no doubt whatsoever that Christian TV channels make a great contribution to helping churches and ministries reach the lost, strengthen the weak, and encourage the faithful followers of Jesus. And since the interest in wholesome, faith-filled programming is on the rise, Christian TV channels are poised to continue making inroads to influence and inform a world starving for a word from God. Let Him speak! Supporting Christian TV channels through viewing and subscribing contributes to the cause of Christ on earth. It’s a cause well worth supporting.

GOD TV Distribution Update: With God, Increase is Always on the Way

Jesus came to give us life and life in abundance! Truly, we serve the God who not only adds or subtracts, but who multiplies. ‘Multiplication’ is certainly a word that comes to mind when one considers 22 years of GOD TV’s exponential growth. Now in 2017 we look forward to the next leap forward in our global distribution as we stand in faith and as we trust God for the same level of breakthrough for our viewers.

Who remembers Reinhard Bonnke’s well-known message ‘Jesus came to turn a minus into a plus’? The dearly loved evangelist (who hosts Good News on GOD TV) has often spoken of the Cross as God’s plus sign, sharing all Jesus has added to our lives. This is the Good News of the Gospel and we’re commissioned to spread it worldwide. That’s why since 1995, when GOD TV started, we have sought to impact the world through media.

In 1995 GOD TV took to the airwaves in the UK reaching only 22 countries in Europe two hours a day. Our schedule soon grew to seven hours, then 24 hours and in 2002 the historic move of our broadcast uplink to Israel opened the way for our signal to go global. All of a sudden we were strategically positioned on new satellites to broadcast worldwide from Jerusalem. Africa and Asia opened up first, followed by Australia and then North America in 2006. What started off just two-hours a day in Europe now reaches the globe 24/7.

According to GOD TV’s latest distribution report from our Head of Distribution, Klaus Leweling, we now reach 310 million homes worldwide. This is a potential viewership of 1.1 billion people, a vast figure that is constantly being added to. The scripture says some plant, others water, but it is God who brings the increase. (1 Corinthians 3:6) We are grateful to each partner who has planted or watered and we thank God for causing us to grow so we can reach more people.

GOD TV latest distribution breakthroughs

Our quest at GOD TV is to impact the world and every distribution breakthrough takes us a step closer. Like the dramatic announcement last Missions Week that we now reach 100 million homes in India and have launched in Thailand.

More recently, following our Bless Israel Campaign in January, GOD TV miraculously launched on HOT Cable in Israel making our programming available in 1.3 million Israeli homes. Furthermore, Africa’s largest satellite platform, DStv has opened up to GOD TV after many years of prayer.
