A Texas church did what it took to do what Jesus would do in their situation – to help those in need. And during the winter storm, they provided warm shelters to families in need.

Open Door Church really stood with their name. They have opened their doors to welcome families during the time of crisis.
Last week, the frigid weather put Texas in dire conditions. Power outages have worsened their situation. So, Pastor Troy Brewer partnered with other local churches, volunteers, and public safety servants. He rented two generators to accommodate their plans.
“We were the only building in the city that had power,” he told CBN News. “Everybody that was stuck at their house with nothing, so we came to them.”

Along with the shelter, they also provided basic needs for those who would come. “We’ve housed hundreds of families. It’s been a blessed mess, and it’s still chaotic,” he said.
“But we have cots, we’re feeding people. There are programs for the kids, and we brought people here from the retirement communities after partnering with the local Jeep club.”
More than these, Pastor Troy revealed that God was at work in their midst. “Many salvations this week. We had healings, we saw the power of God move in a crazy cool way.”
He added, “We saw families restored. It was a big Jesus fest.”
Furthermore, their local outreach ministry, Open Door Food Bank, distributed groceries to the families. They announced on their Facebook page, “We blessed 1,425 people with 60,000 pounds of food! Praise Jesus! Thank you for helping us get the word out. It was a blessing to bless others.”
They exhorted, “We hope you see the joy that was in the midst of the tragedy and focus on a nation united, that cares for their people and loves their God. When you think about this past storm, our desire is that you saw Jesus in the midst of it, walking above it and looking at you.. well pleased.”
