Twenty One Pilots is a two person band from Columbus, Ohio. Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun are both talented in numerous musical instruments. And their sound and lyrics will take you on a journey.
Their music has been described as rock, alternative, pop, reggae, rap and more. Bridging multiple musical genres they are reaching a generation of people seeking guidance. Through their songs, they are challenging their listeners to think. And within their music, no matter how real or raw, the gold of Scripture are hidden within.
‘Taxi Cab’ Will Take You on a Journey
In a song called “Taxi Cab,” Joseph sings, “I want to fall inside Your ghost,” referring to the Holy Spirit. He sings Psalm 30:5, “Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.” Gianna Hermann of Beat, expanding on lyrics in this song, says, “‘there were three men,’ is referring to the Trinity. Talking about the night and ‘darkness [fading] away’ so the one who was struggling ‘could see another day.’ The last stanza of the song ends with one of the three men who were in the cab saying, “We’re driving toward the morning, Son, where all your blood is washed away. And all you did will be undone.” This is obviously referring to the death of Jesus Christ. And the meaning of His crucifixion for our sins (John 3:16).”

Their Music Ministers Comfort to the Hurting
A fan on YouTube wrote, “My grandfather passed away at 12:15 today. And this song just really let me release my emotions and cry. It’s the hardest thing imaginable to watch someone you love take their final breath.”
God Reports quotes a fan named Mattie, saying, “When I first listened to their music I was like, I’m not alone. I thought I was the only one. Twenty One Pilots really did save my life in more ways than one.” And many others on fan sites give their testimonies of how the band’s music has rescued them from depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and more.
Rock Sound said today that work on the next Twenty One Pilots album has been confirmed. This is sure to give more encouragement and hope to fans.
More Hope Needed in the World Today
Jesus taught in parables, and His Holy Spirit uses Christian believers giving a hope-filled message to the world. Twenty One Pilots are using their God-given gifts and talents for His glory even though the gospel is not upfront through their music but hidden within.
If you need hope and encouragement, watch this short video:
Will you pray this prayer: “Father God, thank you for loving me. I admit I have sinned and done wrong. Please forgive me. I believe that Jesus died on the Cross for my sins and rose from the dead. Jesus is my Lord and Savior. Holy Spirit, fill me up. Help me live for You.” Now, begin a conversation with Him using your own words.
From this point on, talk to Jesus everyday and read His Bible. You can start your reading in the Gospel of Mark or John. If you don’t have a Bible, download the YouVersion Bible App. And find a great church that will help you grow in your relationship with God. Encouraging you to show God’s love through you to others.
