Samaritan’s Purse Helps Reunite Ukrainian Refugees To Families In Canada

The Christian organization, Samaritan’s Purse, has helped reunite Ukrainian refugees with their loved ones in Canada. They airlifted 28 Ukrainians on Sunday on its DC-8 aircraft.

Franklin Graham, head of the Samaritan’s Purse, posted the group’s joyful news on its Twitter account. He shared that they have been delivering tons of food to the devastated country. But, on Sunday, they were on a “special mission.”

“We are bringing 28 Ukrainian refugees from Poland to Canada,” he said. He noted that all rescued persons had loved ones in their new place.

“There are children of all ages, grandmothers, mothers – one of them is even eight months pregnant. God bless them,” he added. “They have been through so much and had to leave behind everything except what they could carry.”

The mother-to-be, Natalia, expressed her gratefulness to the charity organization. She said that the flight was God’s miracle and answer to her prayers.

“We are all in a similar situation,” she shared. “Every person on this plane has been praying for a fresh start, a new life. And then Samaritan’s Purse told us they would help. It is God showing us his love. This is God’s mercy flight.”

Natalia could not contain her happiness that her baby would be born in a “safe country.”

The Christian Post reported that Samaritan’s Purse had delivered 330 tons of relief supplies, including their Emergency Field Hospital, on 13 airlift missions. Along with the field hospital was a team of doctors and nurses who had treated 8,700 patients.

They stated, “In all, we have helped more than 338,000 people by distributing critical relief items such as blankets, hygiene kits, and solar lights. We are also installing community water filtration systems in areas where water sources have been disrupted or contaminated by the conflict.”

Today, Graham encouraged everyone to continue praying for Ukraine. He said, “We need to continue to pray for the people of Ukraine and do everything we can to help them.”

PRAY: Human Traffickers At Ukrainian Border Posing As Pastors

As Ukrainians flee from their country amidst the Russian invasion, human traffickers take advantage of the situation, deceiving Ukrainian refugees. And it’s something believers worldwide should urgently pray about.

In a report by CBN News, Orphan’s Promise Regional Manager for Europe Natasha Boom shared what she had witnessed at the Polish border. And she described it as “pure chaos.”

On top of the chaos of the many Ukrainians fleeing their country, one heartbreaking news is human traffickers taking advantage of the situation. Natasha said it is one of her “biggest prayer requests.”

“That this evil can be exposed for what it is. That children would be spared,” she said.

Posing As Pastors

Apparently, they heard reports from the border that the traffickers are “pretending to be pastors.” They would disguise themselves using minibusses and coaches to approach children. Then the next thing they know, these traffickers have already deceived them.

Natasha narrated, “Some of the border guards said, ‘There are traffickers here, but how do we know? There are thousands of people.'”

But despite the vast crowd, the border guards are doing their best to protect everyone.

“The border guards were some of the most incredible people I met,” the aid worker said. “Some of them haven’t slept because they wanted to stay awake to protect the children.”

A Mother

Natasha also shared one heartbreaking scene she saw at the border. It was a mother who made sure her children wouldn’t be taken away from her.

“This one mother … she had a rope tied around her waist with four little girls,” she described. “Probably under the age of five wrapped around it. Because there [is] risk of traffickers and she didn’t want to fall asleep with her children there.”

This is just one distressing story among many horrors plaguing the Ukrainian refugees. As believers standing with them, let’s continue to include them in our prayers.

Israel Clears The Way For Thousands Of Ukrainians Looking For Refuge

Israel announced Tuesday that it would temporarily drop the “10,000 shekel” requirement for those seeking refuge. Ukrainian refugees will not have to make a 10,000-shekel ($3,000) deposit in order to stay in Israel while the war rages in their homeland. Instead of putting money into an Israeli bank (as a pledge that when the war is over, they will go back to Ukraine), refugees will just have to sign a piece of paper promising to return home as soon as it is safe to do so.

Before the war started, there were already an estimated 25,000 Ukrainians living illegally in Israel. Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked said that those people can remain and won’t be deported and that the government is prepared to receive another 5,000 non-Jewish Ukrainian refugees, and they can all stay “until the danger subsides.”

This is in addition to the tens of thousands expected as part of the Urgent Aliyah—Jewish people from Ukraine wanting to immigrate to Israel and become citizens. The Institute for Jewish Policy Research estimates that as many as 200,000 Ukrainian Jews are eligible to make Aliyah according to the Law of Return.

Shaked said that Israel anticipates as many as 100,000 Jewish people will make Aliyah—from Ukraine and from Russia (due to an expected increase in persecution as the war rages).

“The sights of war in Ukraine and the suffering experienced by its citizens rattle the soul and don’t allow us to remain indifferent,” Shaked said Tuesday evening at a press conference at the Knesset.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, an estimated 3,400 non-Jewish Ukrainians have arrived in Israel. Perhaps as many as 150 of them were not allowed to enter.

Under the new rules, Shaked said any Ukrainian citizen entering Israel will receive a temporary permit to remain for three months. And if the situation back home in Ukraine continues to deteriorate, those seeking refuge will be allowed to apply for local work.

Among Israel’s 9 million citizens, almost a million of them immigrated from the former Soviet Union—from Russia, Ukraine, and other countries that opened up after the bloc crumbled. Israeli citizens can submit a request to host Ukrainian refugees, with a limit of one family per applicant, Shaked said.

“Israeli citizens can be proud” of the country’s humanitarian efforts toward the Ukrainians, Shaked said.

There are several agencies and ministries—United Hatzalah, the Jewish Agency, International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, and, thanks to many of you—Messiah’s Mandate—helping to bring Ukrainians to safety in Israel.

As of Wednesday, the UN reported that more than 2 million Ukrainian refugees have been displaced so far (both within Ukraine and into Poland, Germany, and several other countries offering temporary refuge), making it the fastest-growing refugee crisis Europe has faced since World War II.
