The Past

Many walk in the past or their imagined future. This is vain and just an illusion. The present is the only reality you have and know. Nothing else matters. What you have and own means nothing if you can’t enjoy your present moment. Most mental illness is due to loss of present living. Most are caught up in their own vain imaginations that they don’t have time to enjoy the present moment. The devil insinuates his thoughts and feelings and you get unconscious of the present. This is the sure way to waste your years and waste your life.

Presence is the Solution

Come to the present and invite His presence to fill you and live life to the full. Enjoy all that you do this moment and be connected. Don’t live in your mind but live in the present moment. Living in your mind is to live controlled by your thoughts and feelings. Living in the moment is to live in the Spirit. We are spirit beings on a earthly journey. We forget this to our detriment. Living in the Spirit is to invite God into our daily walk. God is Spirit. What a difference it will make to your walk and talk as you release yourself from your self-made prison of vain imaginations.

In 2 Corinthians 10, the Bible says that we have the ability as believers to take captive every thought and make it obedient to the Lord, Jesus Christ. And let me tell you something, believers, if you don’t take captive every thought and make it obedient, it does not stop at a thought. Nobody ever wakes up one morning and says, “Hey, I’m going to be a drug addict, I’m going to be an alcoholic, I’m going to go into prostitution.” Nobody ever wakes up one morning and does that. It all starts somewhere and where it starts, friends, is as a thought. If you don’t take captive every thought, it turns into what the Bible in that passage calls, a vain imagination.

What’s the difference between a thought and a vain imagination? Let’s take an alcohol addiction, for example. Instead of thinking, “Hey man, I want a drink today,” you go from that to imagining it going down, imagining in your mind, where it’s on sale, what aisle it’s on in the store, and I can taste it going down. Do you see the difference? If you don’t take captive the thought, you have to deal with the vain imagination. And that scripture says in the Bible that you’re supposed to cast down vain imaginations that try to exalt themselves against the knowledge of God.

It’s 1,000,001 times easier, Christian friends, to take captive the thought, than it is to try to cast down a vain imagination. If you don’t take captive the thought and you don’t cast down the vain imagination, guess what? It doesn’t stop there. It turns into a stronghold. Well, what do I do if I have a stronghold? Well, what is a stronghold? Something has you, instead of you having it. Well, if you have a stronghold, it takes the anointing of God to break that yoke off of you, to break that stronghold. So someone has to come alongside you or God has to sovereignly do it by you crying out. I’ve seen it happen both ways, but you can have strongholds broken in your life.

So I would encourage you to begin today to take captive every thought and make it obedient. Identify vain imaginations that are popping up, cast them down, and find a believer who will pray with you and release the power and the fire of God to begin to break strongholds off your life. You can be completely free today.
