Growing up in a dysfunctional home, Jason Fowler swore never to follow in the footsteps of his alcoholic dad. However, at 15-years-old, he broke his own vow and began drinking. The young Jason loved what the alcohol was doing to him as it gave him false confidence amid his pain, fear, and insecurities. Alcohol became medicine for him until he also became a drug user.
Then at 16-years-old, Jason discovered music and began learning to play the guitar. Soon, music became his identity because he loved the attention people gave him through it. That’s why he decided to drop out of college and pursue a music career.
Life As A Musician
Music was filling the void and emptiness Jason felt in his heart. He joined bands and lived his life as a budding musician. But amidst all of it, he was an alcoholic and used drugs. A band kicked him out at one point for his bad drinking habits.
Jason started his own band. And as he got better in music, people and many record producers began to notice him. Until a label offered them a deal to record the band’s music, it was a dream come true.
Although Jason was almost at the peak of his music career, the musician’s alcohol and drug addiction problems stayed. Then just before they were about to finally release the band’s album, the label was sold. That’s when Jason lost it and saw his dream shattered right before his eyes.
Jason felt hopeless after slowly losing everything he had worked hard for. And three years later, he became a homeless man. He was forced to wander on the streets for two years.
One night, he cried out to God for help, realizing all the mistakes he had done. Then what happened next made all the difference. And finally, Jason found the love he had been searching for all his life—Jesus.
