At a youth service, a grandmother with stage 3 cancer was healed miraculously when a group of young people gathered to pray for her.
Rue
Rue loves the youth, and they love her. She is a very special lady to many people in their church.
“And she’s just that one constant in their life,” Amanda, a youth pastor, said.
“I love her to death. And I don’t know what I would do if she wasn’t here anymore,” one teenage girl said.
“She’s like a grandmother to me,” another teenager said.
“I’m drawn to the youth, I love them. It fills my heart and a lot of kids, they need it and they need something outside of not just sadness and just happiness,” Rue expressed.
Stage 3 Cancer
For a few months Rue hadn’t been feeling well. She had gone to a doctor and everything seemed ok at first. But she kept feeling worse. So, she went to a second doctor and they found cancer.
“Radiation turned into chemo, and chemo was awful. It was killing me, I felt,” Rue said.
“My heart broke, you know because she had been dealing with this for months without telling anybody,” Amanda recalled as she watched Rue trying to conceal the pain she’s suffering back then.

“I couldn’t hide it any longer. I was sick and I couldn’t hide it, and I couldn’t even smile,” Rue.
But one Wednesday night, she mustered up a strength and joined the youth during a time of worship.
“Because I love watching them worship. They have such a love for the LORD. And to watch them praise and with their arms up… it just touches my heart. It uplifts me,” she said.
Amanda saw Rue at the back and she remembered that “the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, “You need to pray for her.””
So, Amanda came up front and asked if the youth could pray for Rue. She went forward and told the kids about the cancer, and how she’d been sick. Then they prayed for her.
Grandmother Healed at Youth Service
“I got very emotional. So, I went down forward in front of the altar and all the kids… they didn’t even hesitate. They got right up in their seats and they all gathered and laid hands on me,” Rue recalled while trying to control her tears.
“And then she fell out in the Spirit and the kids had never seen that before!” Amanda said.
“I felt myself being lifted up off the floor, and I was crying. I started shaking almost like a seizure. And someone was holding me and saying, “Rue don’t fight it if God took out your cancer.” It then stopped and I just started laughing. Hysterically, like a nut. Then this calm came over my body when the service was over. When the children left, they would give me hugs. I left there and I felt energized,” she said.
The entire week she was full of life!
“And I felt healed. And I knew I was healed. I had to wait three weeks to get a PET scan and the PET scan came back.”
Then she heard what she’s dreamt of hearing.
Stage 3 Cancer Healed
“NO CANCER,” she said.
Rue’s heart for the youth has deepened from the experience. She said, “I think it has opened their eyes more to the LORD. I think they believed like they never believed before.”
One teenager testified and said, “I used to be like a Christian who wouldn’t really pray for people outside of church. But now I’ll go around and if I see someone who’s kind of sad or something, I’ll go and ask if they need to be prayed for.”
“I had supernatural healing. I’m thankful and I just hope that many ppl would open their hearts and minds to Jesus because He is real,” Rue concluded.
