US graduate Leanne Carrasco chose to celebrate her graduation day by throwing a party for homeless kids and their mothers rather than having a party at home for her family and friends.
Texas Teen, Leanne Carrasco
Leanne recently graduated from Waltrip High School in Houston Texas. Instead of throwing a party of her own to celebrate her success, she organized a pizza party for homeless women and kids, showing that “someone cares”.

“I didn’t want to spend so much money on a party when that’s just gonna last a day,” she said in an interview with KTRK. “I feel that if I’m able to give to people, that will last more than a day. I just want people to be able to have some stuff that they don’t normally have.”
Celebrating in a different way
Leanne wanted to celebrate her graduation by giving back to others, so on June 2, she threw a party at ‘Star of Hope’. Not only did she buy dozens of pizzas but she also gave away 400 personal hygiene kits to the 200 women and kids at the facility.
“You don’t see this all the time and it’s very fulfilling to know that I’m able to help others instead of just helping myself,” she said.
Now, Leanne is planning to study nursing at university!
