Who is the True Vine? And Who is the Husbandman?

Jesus made it cleared to us in John 15:1 which says, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman”. Jesus is the true Vine and God the Father is the Husbandman (a person who cultivates the land; a farmer), the Vine Cultivator. Jesus purposely referred to Himself as the True Vine because He knows many will come in His name to deceive many people unto destruction. Matthew 24:4-5 says, “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”

Jesus referred to the Father as the husbandman, the cultivator and He said in John 15:2, “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”

What Would You Do?

If you have a vine with about five branches and only three produces fruits and the other two branches never produce any fruit? You will undoubtedly cut off the fruitless branches either not to choke the fruitful branches or to give room for them to probably expand their fruits.

So Who Is The Branch?

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing (John 15:5).” We, the followers of Jesus are the branches and no branch can produce the fruit of itself except is attached to the vine.

The Branch Is Attached To The Vine

The images below show how the branch is attached to the vine and fruits on the branch. The nutrient is supplied from the Vine to the branch to enable the branch to produce fruits.

Believers are called and instructed to abide in the Vine, the Lord Jesus and we should abide in Him and Him only, so we are able to produce the fruit expected of us and as such fulfill our purpose. Without relationship and fellowship with Jesus and His Words in us, we will be nothing more than a branch without a Vine that withers or wanders away. When we abide in Him and His words in us, it produces undeniable answers to our requests (see John 15:4, John 15:7).

Galatians 5:22-23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is not.” And Jesus said the words He speaks to us are spirit and they are life (See John 6:63). Paul also said in Galatians 5:25, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” We should also remember that: to be spiritually minded is life and peace while carnally minded is unto death (see Romans 8:6).

What do you abide in and what abides in you?

What fruits do you produce on a daily basis?

Are the fruits you produce at home the same at work, grocery stores or everywhere?

Are you spiritually minded or carnally minded?

Never authorize your situation, challenges, your past, family background or people to define who you are because they are indisputably not your Vine neither your Source.

Every challenge we face here on earth are temporary, which was what Jesus expressed in the parable He spoke to the Disciples in John 16:21, “A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.”

Whoever lives his/her life without the two-edged sword “Word of God” (See Hebrews 4:12) in him/her, will be like a soldier in the battlefront without weapons: and we all can guess what will probably happen to such a soldier.

When you have the Word of Spirit in you, you will absolutely stand for something, so you don’t fall for anything. For greater is Jesus that dwells in you than he that is in the world (See 1 John 4:4)
