Evidence: Hebrew 11:1
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)
It is normal to trust in the things that we can see. Trusting in the things we can´t see is like hoping for tomorrow to come. It´s normal that in life it is all about providing evidence. For someone to get employed, he or she must provide a qualification as proof for his or her capability to carry out the required tasks. For one to pursue a graduate study there is a requirement of at least an undergraduate degree.
Generally, everything we do on earth requires evidence. It´s as if we cannot do anything without presenting a common paper to the world. And then comes, suddenly, the verse in Hebrew 11:1, which literally says, “faith is the substance of things hoped, but the evidence of things not seen.” Now, what this verse seems to transmit is, faith alone is our evidence. Faith in the things we can´t see suffices as evidence to realize invisible things on earth.
The substance of things hoped for
Basically, a life of faith is a visa to all nations. As Christians, we have been called into a life of faith. We no longer live according to the expectations of the world but to the standards of Christ. The Holy Spirit has given us the gift of Faith. This gift is so precious. You can´t imagine where it can take us to. Faith is our currency on earth. The moment we realize this, we know there will be nothing on earth that we can´t afford or achieve. Faith is the substance of things we hope for. What are your hopes? Our hopes can be a dream we have always wanted to see manifest. Our hopes maybe to get that job. We may be hoping for a godly relationship. For some, their hope is to get healing.
Limited but not Unlimited
Our hopes can be limited depending on our faith. However, the moment we step out to see who the author and finisher of our faith is, the certificate will no longer limit us from our goals, the doctor´s report no longer limits our health nor will human beings limit us. Where our thoughts end, that´s where the thoughts of God carry on. For his promise is, “he knows the thoughts he has towards us. They are thoughts of peace and not of evil; to give us an expected end.”(Jeremiah 29:11)
Consequently, the substance of things we hope for increases as the promises of God are endless for our lives. Which means we ought to discover his thoughts towards us. Without knowing them, we are still limited by our own thoughts. When we start discovering his promises through his Word, we comprehend the endlessness of his thoughts. Additionally, we begin to understand that in God there are no limitations. Meanwhile, our hope in his promises and our faith in the manifestation of his promises release the unseen to become visible in the physical realm.
Evidence: Things not seen
The moment the unseen becomes visible, that is the time we experience the glory of the Lord. His glory is luminous. His glory is overwhelming. Sometimes, in the tremendousness of his glory, we can no longer breathe. Words cannot describe it. And then, one can understand why Moses could not stand before the glory of the Lord. He asked for it, the Lord showed him, but it was too pure and overwhelming.
In short, faith is our passWORD on earth.
