Jews don’t believe in Jesus because they don’t believe in the New Testament. For them, He is only the God of the Christians and doesn’t belong in their religion. But, if we look at their Hebrew Bible, the Tanakh, we will discover that Jesus is written among the verses.
Tanakh, the Hebrew Bible
The Tanakh, or the Hebrew Bible, is not that far from the Christian Bible in content. Their only difference is that the Tanakh only contains the Old Testament while the Christian Bible has both the Old and New Testaments.
Since the Bible is God’s story of His plan of redemption, therefore, we can also present the Gospel or the salvation of Jesus using the Old Testament verses. Below is an example.
The Gospel Presented From the Old Testament
Isaiah 1:18-20 says, “‘Come now and let us reason together, says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool. If you consent and obey, you will eat the best of the land; but, if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.’ Truly the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
We understand God’s desire and love to fellowship with sinful people from the passage. But, it doesn’t mean that God will tolerate sin and unrighteousness. He will still pronounce judgment on it as He is just and righteous.
Because of God’s everlasting love for the sinners, He made a way to save the people as well as declare His justice. He did this through the life of Jesus.
Isaiah 53:5 says, “But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.”
Jesus bore the punishment of sin and paid the penalty for us. In Jesus, God’s justice was demonstrated against evil and His love for sinners. And in Jesus, we receive eternal life and joy.
So, if you have a Jewish friend, you can share still share the Gospel with them because Jesus cannot be denied.
