“Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer, and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2 )
Humans. I think it’s safe to say that every single one of us has sinned and made mistakes. But, it’s what we take away from our mistakes and the lessons that come from them that determineled who we are. Specifically, who we are as sons and daughters of King Jesus. Nobody is perfect, but you can be perfected in Love.
Joy For Mourning
Growing up, I didn’t know Jesus. I had heard that “relationship” with Jesus was important but never truly knew what that meant or could even look like. I made mistakes in high school and I started hanging out with the wrong crowd. One thing led to the next and I was in a toxic relationship. I experienced a lot of hurt, pain, and shame. I had no idea the extremity of lies I was believing about myself because of my experiences and the mistakes I made along the way. God’s joy in my life was at lack, but He gave me joy in the mourning.
I want to encourage someone today who feels too far gone. Someone who finds their identity in the mistakes they’ve made in the past and thinks there’s no way out. Jesus is your way out! You are more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus. This is a promise. Through Jesus, we get the honor of being made new. You don’t have to identify as the mistake you made yesterday or ten minutes ago. “The Joy set before Him” Do you need to fix your eyes on Joy today? You are forgiven and shame is a liar. Calling on the name of Jesus will set you free from your past and how you see yourself.
I want to encourage someone today to walk in freedom. Because who the Son sets free is free indeed. Dare to believe that the cross through Christ Jesus gives us access to a brand new life. Find your joy.
