We live in a time in the Church where knowledge and awareness have exploded supernaturally. It is truly amazing. In spite of the tremendous growth, however, there is still a timeless power found in seeking God. In recent years, the body of Christ has grown immensely in the revelation of God’s love for us. Generally speaking, we have a deeper understanding of His grace and goodness perhaps than ever before in the history of the church. We walk in confidence in His nature. We have good understanding of His heart of compassion toward us. This is beautiful truth, but are we leaving something critical behind in the process? Are we creating an atmosphere of haughtiness and a generation of Christians who are missing the power of desperately desiring Him?
Knowledge Abounds
Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. (1 Corinthians 8:1 NKJV)This passage of scripture sums up what is so evident all around us today. Information, teaching and learning surround us. We attend countless workshops, Bible studies and conferences. We are filled to the brim with more Biblical instruction than we can fully absorb. A wealth of knowledge – even regarding the things of God- is wonderful! Knowledge alone, however, only creates haughtiness. It must be accompanied by a humble heart in search of truth and rooted in love.
Promises for Seekers
There are many promises in scripture regarding seeking the Lord. They have not become stagnant or irrelevant. Every one of His promises to us is timeless and a resounding YES in Jesus! He invites us to seek Him!

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. (Matthew 6:33 NLT)
He said, “Ask, and it will be given to you, seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8 NKJV)
But without faith it is impossible to please Him. For he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)
Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity, and honor. (Proverbs 21:21 NIV)
Did you know that there is a reward for seeking the Lord? As we continue to grow in revelation of the things of God, may we always stay postured in love and humility. May we remain childlike in our faith. Let us remember the timeless power of seeking God. The pursuit of God was put in mankind from the creation. It never becomes obsolete or powerless. On the contrary, it leads to the abundant life He promised!
